We are always called as Christians to be more fervent in our love, for God and for each other. Love must be everywhere that Christians are. God is love, so His children should portray that characteristic as well.

The Christian home is the workshop where love is to be first felt, watched, learned, and observed in everyday life. It is a laboratory where love is tested and tried in day-to-day experience. Everything that is true about Christian love and what it is mean to be is needed at home.

Love at home begins by parents who love God. Loving God means that a relationship is a first responsibility for mom and dad, for any of us. Christian love springs from a healthy and growing relationship with God. It involves time in prayer and a life of obedience.

Jesus also tells us that we are to love God more than our families. A true disciple puts Jesus first and everything else is second, of lesser importance. Does that mean that we are to hate our families? No, we are to love Jesus most, everything else is secondary.

Jesus is in our hearts, He knows our hearts, what does this place need? He wants us to look at things, to ask if there are things that need to change.

When we open our hearts to God and when we confess our needs and cry out for help… He is there. God is there in a way that He wouldn’t be when we don’t pray when we are going through the motions. We can’t overestimate the power and grace that God brings to a Christian home.

We need God’s help to fulfill our mission. It is easier to bring our church faces along on Sunday than to always wear them at home. Home is where the rubber hits the road.
