Mark Scott - Scott Associates

Mark is passionate about accounting and tax for small business. Operating a small business himself he understands the issues that always crop up – cash flow, staffing, profitability, tax etc. His other passion is Self-Managed Super Funds – he has had his own since 1999 and has seen massive changes in this sphere – in 2012 he completed a Professional Certificate in SMSF so he could consolidate his knowledge – and offer this knowledge to trustees – there are many trips and traps that are usually glossed over by the “low cost� incorporators and other professionals that do not deal in the SMSF sphere on a regular basis.
Amongst his peers he is known for his willingness to try new technologies (and a bower bird for old technologies – his mobile phone collection attests to that). His is a keen advocate of cloud accounting and will try to convince you to use this – even if you are happy with your PC based product.

If Mark is not at the office he can be found bush walking in Lane Cove National Park on the weekends or in the Blue Mountains when he can entice his wife away from her weekend passion – volunteering on the sailing ship - James Craig. Mark walks with his wife twice a year in New Zealand having completed seven of the great nine walks.

Mark has been a registered tax agent for over 33 years. He completed his undergraduate degree at UNE. He is a Chartered Accountant, holds a Masters of Business (Marketing), a Professional Certificate in SMSF and is a SPAA SMSF Specialist.
