We all understand the concept of an adversary - an opponent in a conflict or dispute. Running into people who feel strongly about a particular issue or way of working (and who refuse to compromise) can cause many problems in the workplace. However, what happens when you are the one being the adversary?

In today's episode of The Lead With Trust Show, Sue offers two methods for avoiding situations like this, two methods that will go a long way to solving your problems.

During the episode, Sue shares the story of a large water treatment project that had devolved into email threats, unproductive communications, and outright hostility between the owner and the contractor. She demonstrates how the adversarial process can snowball out of control.

She offers advice on how to avoid creating adversaries, but also, how not to become one yourself.

Sue also demonstrates the importance of creating partnering ground rules to create a safe environment to explore options.

What You’ll Learn in this Show:

  • Why conflicts happen in the first place, and the dangers of bringing emotion into the discussion.
  • The difference between focusing on creating solutions or opportunities, and focusing on winning.
  • Why a lack of communication is often the crux of a failed partnership or project.
  • And so much more...
