In this limited run segment I will be exploring the pioneers that have shaped and influenced the EDM we have today. In this episode we will be featuring Steve “Silk” Hurley. Steve “Silk” Hurley is a DJ, Producer and Remixer based out of Chicago. He is considered not only a founder but a pioneer of the Chicago House sound. In the early 80’s he started DJing and he was one of the first to use a drum machine and sampler to create his own remixes and edits. In 1986 Steve released a groundbreaking track “Jack Your Body”. Take a listen to it here. “Jack Your Body” was released on Underground Records. It became a massive hit in the UK reaching number one. This track also helped popularize the Chicago house music scene and established Steve as a major figure in the house music scene.
