On this episode of the Steel City Nation podcast Mark Maradei speaks with Ike Taylor. Taylor is a former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback. The two time Super Bowl champion, was a fourth round selection in the 2003 NFL Draft, and spent his entire 12-year career in Pittsburgh. He played college football at University of Louisiana at Lafayette where he began as a walk on in 2001 where he earned a scholarship just prior to the season beginning. Ike went from running back/special teams player to cornerback and his blazing speed at his pro day 4.18 along with his size is what got him recognized and inspired the Steelers to take a chance on him. Taylor retired from the Steelers in 2015 and worked as an analyst for NFL Now and other shows on the NFL Network for a few years.

We will discuss with Ike why he chose the University of Louisiana Lafayette for school and how his experience there impacted his NFL career. We will look at what it was like playing for Dick LeBeau, Bill Cowher and Mike Tomlin. He will share with us his memories of playing on one of the best defenses in NFL history in 2008 and how those defenses were essentially put together.

Ike will also talk about his relationship with Dan Rooney and how it grew so much so that he played his entire career in PIttsburgh. Ike will join us for our Decade Definers by sharing his five most memorable games he played in during his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
