This is Aly Grauer, audio editor and performer on Skyjacks: Courier’s Call - an all-ages-friendly actual play and storytelling podcast set in the world of Speir created by James D’Amato.
Skyjacks: Courier’s Call follows the adventures of June, Kiran, and Cici - three fourteen-year-old apprentices aboard an airship that carries mail across the strange and magical world they live in.
For your consideration, this is episode 27 of Skyjacks: Courier’s Call, the second episode in our second season, which just started a few weeks ago as of this recording.
This is a great episode to jump in on because it tells you a little bit about the three main protagonists, the new location for the second season of the show - which is a canyon city called Tesh Urt - and gives you a flavor of how we play this game. The second season of our show uses the game system of Cortex Prime, but we tend to be more story-based than dice-based.
The world of Speir was created by James D’Amato for his podcast Campaign: Skyjacks. Speir is an inclusive setting supporting anti-colonialist, anti-capitalist narratives. The world of Speir was also inspired by the game Illimat by Keith Baker and Twogether Studios, as well as the music of The Decemberists. However, you don’t need to know anything about those two things to enjoy the show.
