A lot can happen in a year and a half, like… winning an Emmy for a YouTube Original and filming its second season. And this time we not only talk to Vsauce3’s Jake Roper, but also to Eric Langlay, the VFX and cinematography wizard behind Could You Survive the Movies? and about a decade of Vsauce videos.

So what’s the one movie CYSTM will never be able to do? The answer is kind of surprising, and it shows why it’s so hard to work with production companies -- and both Eric and Jake discuss why this one movie is such a problem.

After Jake finds his memory card and Eric reminisces about the horrors of seeing Matt in his boxers, they discuss just how difficult it is to shoot CYSTM. They’re on a much more rapid pace than most scripted shows, and they pack dozens of shoots into one day. We’ve talked in the past about the efficiency of YouTubers, so what’s the balance between the demands of a TV-style production with the talents of online creators?

And after all that work, YouTube seems to have made discoverability way too difficult for CYSTM. It’s a quirk of the release schedule, but there’s no solution in sight. It’s frustrating that CYSTM videos aren’t served out to the Vsauce3 audience, but it’s just the way things work. You can’t depend on YouTube, but you CAN depend on spaghetti and meatballs.

Patrons jump into ask about the future of CYSTM, including whether there will ever be an episode on a cartoon or animated movie, the dumbest movie they want to cover, the best thing about Top Gun, and an on-set animal massacre so terrible that all evidence of it has been buried. What are Jake and Eric’s Taco Bell orders? Will they ever do a Man vs. Food style show? And did they really meet on Grindr?

Thanks to everyone who came out for the live show, we had tons of fun in Discord. And a special thanks to the Patrons who make this show happen each and every week. You really are the best, and that’s why you get free/discounted t-shirts.
