To celebrate the end of lockdown, please enjoy another visit to FunWorld, technically the only theme park open in the ENTIRE COUNTRY, despite a) having a terrible safety record and b) not being real. Fingers crossed, we’ll be back at the Miller in London Bridge doing live sketch comedy from May. Get in touch! We’re on nextlevelsketch@gmail.com and @nextlevelsketch on Twitter. It also featured the voice acting talents of Nick Halberry, Bella Nicholson, Flex Toomey, Madeline Kasson, Sarit Wilson Chen, Manisha Patel, Rachel Cader, and Gertie the sheep, who Roderick assures me is currently starring in a zoom play about the plight of sheep in Macedonia It was narrated by Muireann Kelly, and the theme tune was written by James Walsh and performed by James Walsh and Rebecca Diez. We at Next Level Sketch have somehow reached our THIRD SEASON; please ignore the fact our second season was only four episodes long - it had a good run. This season we’re trying something a little different, and are setting our episodes within coherent geographical comic universes. This week and next we are at SupaBuy, a supermarket populated by robot automatic checkouts, eccentric cashiers, intense security guards, and very dangerous trolleys. Please leave us a review if you liked the episode - it really helps us reach a larger audience! And you can find us at nextlevelsketch.com and @nextlevelsketch.…
The first Next Level Sketch podcast episode of 2021 comes almost a year to the day on from our first ever live performance, which actually feels more like 8,000 years ago. Oh well! We have some fantastic sketches for you this year and we’ll put them into your faces any way we can. All details for upcoming shows and episodes will be on nextlevelsketch.com and on our Twitter @nextlevelsketch. Episode 14 of the Next Level Sketch podcast features sketches written by Flex Toomey, Paul Creasy, James Walsh, Julia Middleton, Luke Beahan, Rachel Cader, Roderick Millar, Daniel Smith, Zoe Browne, Muireann Kelly and the semi-mythical John Dredge. It also featured the voice acting talents of Vic Dry, Cody Whitaker, Ben Fortescue, Euan Brown, Greg Davies, Jimmy Jameson, Sarit Wilson Chen, Dan Willis, and Jess Carrivick. The songs and jingles were written by Jess Carrivick and James Walsh, and the theme tune was written by James Walsh and performed by James Walsh and Rebecca Diez. We used zapsplat.com for some excellent sound effects, and the music in the Sheep sketch was “Action Strike” by Purple Planet…
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum from the next level Sketch collective in this most piratical of seasons… if you believe that Jesus was a pirate, which I personally do. All the evidence is there: the enormous parrot He wore on his shoulder at all times, the ludicrous obsession with buried treasure, the scurvy outbreak in Nazareth... We have a lovely Christmas episode for you all to enjoy. Please sit back, grab yourself a class of rum or a chocolate sprout, and listen intently. We’re back with live shows at The Miller in London Bridge next year. Our first show is 26th January, and then the last Tuesday of the month thereafter. All details will be on nextlevelsketch.com and on our Twitter @nextlevelsketch. Episode 13 of the Next Level Sketch podcast features sketches written by James Walsh, Paul Creasy, Jess Carravick, Muireann Kelly, Roderick Millar, Dan Smith, Angela Yaz, Flex Toomey, and Ben Fortescue. It also features the voice acting talents of Nadine Bailey, Rachel Cader, Vic Dry, Euan Brown, Dr Ruth Martin, Jenna Cole, Shane Malone, Jimmy Jameson, and Greg Davies. The jingles were by James Walsh, and the theme tune was written by James Walsh and performed by James Walsh and Rebecca Diez. Some sound effects courtesy of zapsplat.com…
With usual host Paul Creasy either missing or never having existed in the first place - we’re still figuring out which - James Walsh takes over the hosting reins. This episode is slightly longer and more packed with jingles than usual, so we suggest you take a break at the 15 minute point to have a cup of tea, eat a biscuit, or stare at something primal like the sea or some goo. Season 2 Episode 2 features sketches written by James Walsh, Paul Creasy, Shane Malone, Roderick Millar, Muireann Kelly, Zoe Browne, Nadine Bailey, Dan Smith and Ben Fortescue. Performing alongside them, at least metaphysically speaking, were Rachel Cader, Jess Carravick, Vic Dry, Kitty Dry, Greg Davies, Dr Ruth Martin, Euan Brown, Manisha Patel, Cody Whittaker, Rebecca Diez, Liv Long and Liam Brennan. The sloths were played by siamangs, a type of gibbon. James Walsh wrote all the jingles, and roped in Dr Ruth Martin to help sing them, and James Walsh wrote the theme tune, which was performed by James Walsh and Rebecca Diez. Our website is nextlevelsketch.com, we’re @nextlevelsketch on twitter and we used some lovely sound effects sourced from zapsplat.com.…
It’s the start of November, which can only mean two things: it’s time to launch our second season, and it’s time to do our spooky, November themed Halloween special. All change in the Next Level Sketch castle, as Muireann Kelly hosts, as she did throughout the first series too, honest. Who is this Paul Creasy you mention? He sounds made up. Elsewhere in this episode you may find yourself lost in Britain Home Stores, hear the howling of bigoted wolves, and enjoy the sexiness of Steve, the sexy Halloween cat. We also can’t rule out the possibility of your getting woken up at 6am by the builders or finding yourself in the forbidden section of the library. You have been warned. This week’s episode contains sketches written by James Walsh, Muireann Kelly, Nadine Bailey, Rachel Cader, Sarit Wilson Chen, Ben Fortescue, Roderick Millar, and Paul Creasy. Along with the writers, the sketches were also performed by Manisha Patel, Jess Carrivick, Jenna Cole, Vic Dry, Greg Davies, Zoe Browne, Cody Whittaker and Dan Smith. Our thanks to Dr Ruth Martin, who provided additional wolf noises. The jingles were written by James Walsh and the theme tune was written by James Walsh and performed by James Walsh and Rebecca Diez.…
The season finale! It might seem arbitrary, but it was time to put season one of the Next Level Sketch podcast out of its misery, as if it were a Radio 1 DJ still playing Dire Straits in 1993. The first episode of Season 2 will be along next month, so think of this as a gloriously renewal, not a bitter and terrible end. Episode 10 contains many lovely sketches and some frankly odd jingles and songs, but that’s not what this episode description is about. No indeed. Instead, it’s to thank all you loyal listeners out there for sticking with us throughout this mysterious year, during which we had to stop doing live shows and instead learn how to put together a professional quality sketch comedy podcast in double quick time while also occasionally remembering to do our day jobs. We’re so honoured and slightly teary-eyed by all the work put in by the burgeoning Next Level Sketch collective, from the crucial Zoom meeting sketch read through and feedback to the writing, performance and production effort going in to the finished episodes. For the latter, we offer all our thanks to podcast producer Paul, who has given up a lot of his weekends to put the past ten episodes together. As a reward, he will also be made to direct our first live show since February, scheduled for 27th October at The Miller in London Bridge. Come along!?…
In this, the ninth episode of our awesome sketch comedy podcast, we are finally confident and established enough to welcome a recurring character: The Handyman, who you may remember from the episode specifically named after The Handyman. This episode packs in King Kong and his penchant for slightly over-fussy atriums; ancient Tories encouraging you back to work (politicians so ancient that by the time you hear this they may - heavens! - be encouraging the opposite); the kind of phone conversations you just love to overhear on the 73 bus (again, if buses still exist when you read this); terrifying baking and relaxation tips, and a song so jaunty you’ll want to wear it as a hat. Episode 9 of the Next Level Sketch podcast featured sketches written by James Walsh, Vic Dry, Paul Creasy, Ben Fortescue, Euan Brown, Greg Davies, Roderick Millar, Avalina Kreska and Muireann Kelly. The sketches were also performed by Nadine Bailey, Rebecca Diez, Matthew Lawson and Sarit Wilson Chen. Jingles were written and performed by James Walsh and Avalina Kreska. The theme tune was written by James Walsh and performed by James Walsh and Rebecca Diez. Sound effects from Zapsplat.com, purple-planet.com and Freesound.org.…
Have you ever wondered what would happen if Elon Musk and Richard Branson starred in a 1950s style sitcom together while trapped in a moon penal colony? We have, apparently. Elsewhere in this very, utterly eighth episode of sketch comedy, we have balding werewolves, some Tories, a nuclear submarine, a very serious news organisation, and, back by popular demand: horses. This episode features sound effects from Zapsplat.com, Freesound.org, and our own mouths. Episode 8 of the Next Level Sketch podcast featured sketches written by Zoe Browne, James Walsh, Paul Creasy, Jess Carrivick, James Turner, Daniel Smith, Greg Davies, Ben Fortescue and Nadine Bailey. The sketches were also performed by Rachel Cader, Jimmy Jameson, Euan Brown, Jenna Cole, Vic Dry and Muireann Kelly. Jingles were written and performed by James Walsh and Avalina Kreska. The theme tune was written by James Walsh and performed by James Walsh and Rebecca Diez.…
