My earth-death occurred during my senior high school graduation picnic in 1955. I had no idea what I had experienced. Then, 25 years later, I read Dr. Raymond Moody’s book, “Life After Life,” and discovered that when I drowned, I actually had a Near-Death Experience.
Soon after that, I started waking up in the middle of the night with strange words, phrases, and images spinning and floating around in my mind. I couldn’t go back to sleep until I got up, went to the den, and wrote the poem as it appeared on a whiteboard in my mind. After finishing the poem, I went back to sleep.
In my first book, "Remembering the Light," I used the poems I collected over the years to describe what it felt like to drown, die, be in the Light, and return to earth again.
A couple of years later I published my second book, "Alive in the Light," about the same NDE, but this time it would not be poetry based. I decided to write this book using prose to recount what it actually felt like to be earth-dead. I struggled to find the right three-dimensional words, analogies, and metaphors to translate my memories of the Light into English — to convey to the readers what if felt like to be alive in the unconditional loving Light.
