The wonderful thing about Five Heart is that every Thursday night we get together to discuss all things Husker Football. Which means it’s been nearly a week since we played Illinois last Friday Night.

I am sure by now you have watched Jon’s Postgame Reactions (both of them), Greg and Hoss’ Over Reaction, Jon’s Monday Night Therapy, Andy’s Husker Happy Hour, all of the Husker Coaches and Players Postgame Pressers and Weekly Pressers, rewatched the game at least 3 times, reviewed game stats, commented on all your Husker social media sites and after ALL OF THAT you still probably want to discuss what went wrong last Friday night against Illinois.

One thing we strive to do at Five Heart is give the people what they want; hence Greg performed lunges during last week’s episode after receiving a $2 Superchat request.

While we can’t expect that e-v-e-r again (hopefully), we can expect to bury any lasting remains of that Illinois game and move on toward a happier time. The Huskers will be playing the Purdue Boilermakers this coming Saturday, so let’s start this hype train, as we board it to West Lafayette Indiana.

We’re back! After taking our first week off in a very long time, Greg and Minnie return to your Thursday night with a show that is sure to inform and entertain. Or at least one of those. You be the judge! In post-season play, there can only be a handful of teams that end their season with a win. Fred Hoiberg’s Husker squad did just that, winning the inaugural College Basketball Crown with a 77-66 win over UCF on Sunday. While cynics will lament that it’s not a significant tournament, I (Greg, FYI) choose to view it the same way we look at the football team’s bowl game appearance this past season...more basketball to play means more practices, and more spotlight on the program. And in the days after Nebraska’s win, with the transfer portal open, the Mayor welcomes several new and familiar faces to Lincoln. But sadly, the portal door swings both ways (seeing is Fred actually reads this) and Nebraska is no exception. It was announced ate Wednesday that Husker guard Nick Janowski was entering the portal, but earlier in the week, Nebraska wrestling fans were shocked to learn that 3 NCAA qualifier Lenny Pinto was entering the portal as well. That’s a potentially huge loss for the squad that just finished second as a team at the NCAA tourney. And of course, what type of Husker show would we be without talking about football in April? From team dismissals (we Hardley new ye) to all of the latest happenings from Spring practice. I’ll be honest (me again, Greg), I’m really out of the loop on everything that’s gone on in Lincoln the last two weeks. So I’m as excited as you should be to learn and then instantly react based on pure emotion!…

The Rise and Fall (and Rise Again?) of Nebraska Football; Thru the Eyes of Chat Superstar Fred Sacco 1:45:44

If you have watched a Corn Nation video in the past couple of years, chances are you have heard the name Fred Sacco. Fred joins Minnie on Monday Night Therapy to talk about his experience growing up and living in Nebraska. As a Nebraska alum during the birth of the Golden Era in Nebraska Football he will share how electrifying plays by Tommie Frazier led the Cornhuskers to back-to-back national championships in the ‘90’s, with the legendary Tom Osborne as head coach. As the dynasty continued with Eric Crouch in the 2000’s, he led Nebraska to another championship appearance and was awarded the Heisman Trophy in 2001. Crouch’s impact on the program solidified Nebraska’s place as a national power. The years after Crouch saw a succession of head coaches and quarterbacks. While success was mixed, the program continued to find ways to win. From head coaches Bo Pellini to Mike Riley, Nebraska fans needed a change, with the return of the ‘95-’97 champion QB Scott Frost who fans dubbed ‘Golden Boy’ to begin a new chapter as head coach. The high hopes they had for Nebraska to return to national prominence were met with inconsistencies at the play caller position with Adrian Martinez. Despite the ups and downs, Frost attracted top recruits back to the program. After HCSF, Matt Rhule, a coach known for his program-building success, takes the reins in Lincoln. Rhules arrival signaled a fresh start and a renewed focus on building a winning culture. However as the landscape of college football is ever changing, Rhule has had to learn and adjust quickly. The first big key towards winning football came in the shape of 5 star recruit Dylan Raiola, Nebraska’s quarterback. Dylan has had a full season to learn to navigate the more competitive nature and the high demands of playing at the college level. Will Nebraska football be great again? After Tyson Terry, 4 star DT 2025 football recruit won his 4th straight Nebraska State Wrestling Title and finished his high school career with an undefeated record, it just might be that players with that ultra competitive spirit are exactly what this team needs to give us the edge. Also, Nebraska wrestling will have finished their regular season on Sunday the 23rd as they go into West Lafayette ranked #5 in the NCAA.
