Episode 409 - CO-HOST - Bob LeMent - When There Was Only 50 Podcasts, Your Podcast Persona, and a Blue Cat Bob is one of the original 50 podcasters that started what we have today in podcasting. The Static Web Site’s first episode was January 1, 1999 in a vain attempt to make the world hear the off kilter and sophomoric ramblings of Miles Tidal and Bob LeMent. Now 24 years and counting they continue their weekly stream of consciousness dialogues. As you may have discerned from listening, we do no preparation or use any manners or decorum to provide a fully improvised piece of comedy. Enjoy. https://StaticRadio.com Don't really need to hit it at all, but just to promote where people can find me, if they so choose.___ https://howtopodcast.ca/…

Episode 408 - The Forgotten History of Video Podcasting and Its Comeback Story The history of video podcasting via RSS feeds demonstrates that while video in podcasting is currently resurging, it is not a new concept. Here's an overview of its origins and the current resurgence: Early History of Video Podcasting RSS Enclosures and Early Experiments (2000) : The concept of attaching media files, including video, to RSS feeds was proposed in 2000 by Tristan Louis and implemented by Dave Winer. Winer introduced the "enclosure" element in RSS 0.92, allowing media files to be syndicated. This innovation laid the groundwork for both audio and video podcasting First Video Podcasts (2003) : The first known serial video podcast, Dead End Days , was released in 2003. It showcased the potential for distributing video content episodically via RSS feeds Technical Evolution : Early tools like iPodderX (later renamed Transistr) enabled users to access podcasts with graphical interfaces, making it easier to consume both audio and video content. However, video podcasting remained niche due to technical limitations like slow internet speeds and low-quality video playback Resurgence of Video Podcasting Current Trends (2024–2025) : Platforms like YouTube, Spotify, and TikTok have driven the adoption of video podcasting by integrating video capabilities directly into their ecosystems. YouTube's dedicated podcast section and Spotify's support for video uploads have made video podcasting a mainstream format Enhanced audience engagement is a key driver. Video allows for visual storytelling, fosters deeper connections through non-verbal cues like facial expressions, and creates a more immersive experience Monetization opportunities have expanded with video, as creators can leverage ads, sponsorships, and premium content on platforms optimized for visual media Shifts in Content Creation : In contrast to earlier static formats, modern video podcasts often include dynamic elements like B-roll footage and on-screen graphics. Short-form clips optimized for platforms like Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts have also become popular for promotional purposes Video podcasting has evolved significantly since its early days in the 2000s when it was pioneered alongside audio podcasting via RSS feeds. While the medium faced initial challenges due to technological constraints, its resurgence today is fueled by advancements in internet speeds, platform support, and audience demand for visually engaging content. This resurgence underscores that while video podcasting feels innovative now, it is deeply rooted in the foundational history of podcasting. https://blubrry.com/manual/about-podcasting/history-of-podcasting-new/technical-history-of-podcasting/ https://podnews.net/article/first-podcast-feed-history https://lowerstreet.co/blog/video-podcast-platforms#can-i-host-my-video-podcast-with-my-rss-feed ____ https://howtopodcast.ca/…

Episode 404 - CO-HOST - Cassian Bellino - Biblically Speaking Podcast, and an Impressive List of Tools That Can Help Your Podcast Meet the Founder, Cassian Bellino When I felt the pull to start the Biblically Speaking podcast, it wasn’t a dramatic revelation, but a persistent nudge. Over the years, I had countless conversations about faith—what began as casual discussions often grew into deeper reflections. I realized that people asked the same questions I once asked, wrestled with similar doubts, and shared insights that resonated with me. I realized I wasn’t just interested in theology—I was driven by it, needing a space to unpack and connect with others around the questions that kept me up at night. With every conversation and every page of Scripture studied, the Bible became clearer, simpler, and, most importantly, transformative. Now, through hundreds of hours of interviews and insights from some of the world’s most respected scholars, Biblically Speaking exists to make the Bible understandable, approachable, and powerfully relevant to everyday life. It’s been a journey of learning, one that has completely changed me—and I’m here to share it with you. Biblically Speaking - The Bible has been a bestseller for millennia, yet learning about Christianity can feel daunting. I felt the same way. So, as I asked questions, I hit "Record." Biblically Speaking is for curious Christians seeking clear answers to big Bible questions. Each episode unpacks Scripture with theologians, breaking down passages, parables, and prophecies to make the Bible relatable and easy to understand. If you're looking to grow in faith with real insights and a fresh perspective, this podcast is your guide to understanding God's Word simply and meaningfully. https://pod.link/1723892791 https://www.bibspeak.com/ https://linktr.ee https://www.stan.store https://podmatch.com https://www.audacityteam.org https://riverside.fm https://www.podbean.com https://manychat.com https://www.capcut.com https://testimonial.to https://www.boomcaster.com https://www.podbean.com https://www.bibspeak.com ___ https://howtopodcast.ca/…

Episode 409 - CO-HOST - Bob LeMent - When There Was Only 50 Podcasts, Your Podcast Persona, and a Blue Cat - Video Version Bob joins The How To Podcast Series and yes, he is on video as a cartoon blue cat! So, a video is in order for this episode! The audio version is also available! The Static Web Site’s first official episode was January 1, 1999, in a vain attempt to make the world hear the off-kilter and sophomoric ramblings of Miles Tidal and Bob LeMent. Now 25 years and counting they continue their weekly stream-of-consciousness dialogues. As you may have discerned from listening, we do no preparation or use any manners or decorum to provide a fully improvised piece of comedy. Enjoy. We have been producing this weekly audio internet show, Static Radio, since November 25, 1998. Miles and I have recorded each week with only very minor interruptions over the last 25 years. Those were mostly personal tragedies, family members passing away, or losing your house to a fire, and one national tragedy on September 11, 2001. But other than those minor bumps each week Miles and I give the internet a 15 to 40-minute weekly comedy show about the strange and funny happenings in their lives. Although technology has changed drastically over the last 25 years, Miles and I have persevered week after week to bring a little levity to the world. Yes sometimes it can be quite bawdy, or even crass, but it is always an attempt to make each other laugh and hopefully make you, the audience, laugh as well. We lay bare our quirks, deficits, and all the things that make us human, but try to spin it humorously. https://www.staticradio.com/ ___ https://howtopodcast.ca/…

The Daily Dave - Podcasting Tips - How Many Books Do You Need to Write to be an Author - How many podcast episodes to be a podcaster It only takes a single book to be an author - one book! Not a new book every week or every second week. Just one book and you are an author for the rest of your life! It also means that a single podcast episode makes you a podcaster - not a popular discussion in the podcasting space, but it is true! If the idea of starting your podcast is a future dream, I want you to consider making that dream a reality now with a single episode launched than a podcast that stays in your head and heart and never shared. One episode makes you a podcaster - let's start together now! ___ https://howtopodcast.ca/…

Episode 403 - Curiosity Ignited - How Well-Crafted Questions Can Elevate Your Podcast Conversations To spark deeper conversations and connections with your podcast guests, crafting well-thought-out questions is crucial. Here are some strategies and examples to help you leverage better questions: Open-ended questions encourage guests to share detailed stories and insights, leading to more engaging dialogues For example: Instead of: "Did you face challenges while building your business?" Ask: "What were some of the most significant challenges you faced while building your business, and how did you overcome them?" This approach invites your guest to share their journey, insights, and experiences in their own unique way Thoroughly research your guest's background and recent projects. This allows you to ask more informed and personalized questions For example: "I noticed you recently worked on [specific project]. What was the most surprising thing you learned during that process?" This demonstrates your preparation and can lead to discussions about topics the guest may not often get to address Listen actively to your guest's responses and ask follow-up questions to go deeper with your guest For example: If a guest mentions a pivotal career moment, follow up with: "What was going through your mind at that moment?" or "How did that experience shape your approach to what you do today?" Ask questions that challenge common beliefs or encourage critical thinking For example: "What's a commonly held belief in your industry that you passionately disagree with, and why?" This type of question can lead to thought-provoking discussions and showcase your guest's expertise Include questions that reveal the guest's personality and experiences beyond their professional life For example: "What's something our listeners might not know about you?" "If you could give your 18-year-old self some advice, what would you say?" These questions can help create a more personal connection with your guest and audience Encourage your guest to reflect on their experiences and share valuable insights For example: "What's the most important lesson you've learned in your career so far?" "How has [specific event or experience] influenced your decisions since?" By asking these types of well-crafted questions, you can create a more dynamic, insightful, and engaging podcast interview that resonates with your audience and brings out the best in your guests. Episode 402 - CO-HOST - Brandon Leibowitz - SEO Optimizers - Target keywords and What your biggest opportunities are in SEO Hello, I’m Brandon Leibowitz, the founder and operator of SEO Optimizers. Our digital marketing company is dedicated to assisting small and medium-sized businesses in driving more online traffic, leading to increased clients, sales, and valuable leads. My journey in digital marketing began in 2007, right after I graduated from college with a degree in Business Marketing. My initial job involved managing the marketing aspects of an e-commerce website. Back then, I had limited digital marketing knowledge, and so did the company I worked for. I had no idea what I was doing and neither did they! I spent a lot of my time reading books, watching videos, talking to other marketers, reading blogs, joining digital marketing forums, etc. to learn as much as possible about this new type of marketing. During that time, both the company and I attended classes and workshops together, greatly benefiting from the shared knowledge. This experience has influenced me to personally teach SEO workshops as well. https://schema.org/ https://seooptimizers.com/ https://seooptimizers.com/gift/ ___ https://howtopodcast.ca/…

Episode 399 - The Power of the Pause to Make Your Podcast Better - Enhancing Your Podcast Communication The Power of the Pause: Enhancing Your Podcast Communication For podcasters looking to improve their communication skills, mastering the art of the pause can be a game-changer. By incorporating strategic silences into your speech, you can reduce filler words and create a more engaging listening experience. Benefits of Pausing Eliminates filler words: Pauses can replace "ums" and "ahs," making you sound more confident and in control Improves audience engagement: Short quiet moments grab attention and create excitement for what's coming next Enhances understanding: Pauses give listeners time to process information, especially for complex topics Adds emphasis: Strategic silences highlight important points, making them more memorable Types of Pauses for Podcasters Reflective Pause: Use this 3-7 second pause after sharing complex ideas to allow listeners to contemplate Effect Pause: A brief 1-2 second pause creates anticipation and lets words resonate Spontaneity Pause: This technique makes your content feel fresh and thoughtful, even if it's well-rehearsed Implementing Pauses in Your Podcast Practice mindful pausing: Before recording, take a moment to center yourself and set intentions for your episode Use pauses for transitions: Silence can signal a shift between topics, much like paragraphs in writing Embrace the "pregnant pause": Create suspense by pausing after thought-provoking statements or surprising facts Vary pause lengths: Mix short, medium, and long pauses to maintain a natural, conversational flow Remember, pauses aren't just empty space—they're powerful tools that can elevate your podcast's quality and impact. By mastering the art of the pause, you'll not only reduce filler words but also create a more polished, professional, and engaging podcast experience for your listeners.____ https://howtopodcast.ca/…

For a more up-to-date glance of what they get up to head to their website here . MIC media is a social enterprise that amplifies often underheard stories and voices. In 2022, MIC won the Silver Award in the Grassroots Production category at the Audio Production Awards and in the same year nominated for a Manchester Culture Award. MIC’s also received a nomination in the British Podcast Awards and the Manchester Publicity Awards (MPA). Also in 2022, Vic contributed to The Guardian and Third Sector news as a podcast specialist. In recognition of her achievements to date, Vic features in the Top 100 Women in Social Enterprise List 2022 (WISE 100, Natwest and Pioneers Post), was nominated as the ‘Social Impact Star’ at the Inspiring Women Changemakers Awards (2019), is recognised as a role-model on the prestigious Northern Power Women Future List 2017. In 2019 she was awarded a place on the competitive School for Social Entrepreneurs and Lloyds Bank start-up business development programme. Originally and proudly from Sheffield, Vic decided that after her GCSE’s, she was done with the formalities of education, and went down a more vocational route, from a National Diploma in Media Production at College, to then graduating with HND in the same subject from Salford Uni. Vic’s been an honorary Manc for eighteen years and now her accent is a hybrid Lancashire / Yorkshire, super Northern one. She’s a massive advocate of the power of informal learning, DIY approaches and talent as routes to success and amplifying underrepresented voices. MIC's (virtual/in-person) Podcast Club for global podcasters What we’re about Helpful and supportive regular online and in-person get-togethers for podcasters from everywhere! We're a community of global podcasters who help each other make brilliant podcasts. We all make podcasts as producers, editors or presenters.
