×Listen to Him! Listening is essential, especially in our Christian journey. When someone does not listen, it can feel as though you do not exist or are not part of the relationship. Without listening, there won’t be a connection. The first step in building a relationship is being heard and understood. The Israelites held Moses and Elijah in high esteem. Moses represented the Law, and Elijah, the Prophets—the Old Testament is filled with both. The Israelites looked to them for guidance in their religious lives. However, on the Mount of Transfiguration, it was revealed that our Lord Jesus perfectly fulfills both the Law and the Prophets in His life and ministry, culminating in His death on the cross and resurrection. Therefore, the voice from heaven declared, “Listen to Him!” The Law and the Prophets are necessary, but they are fulfilled in Jesus. Those who came before Him should not be undermined; they paved the way for His fulfillment. But now, the final voice has come—the command is clear: Listen to Him! Unfortunately, the disciples were slow to grasp the weight of this call. In the Garden of Gethsemane, they were overcome with sleep when they were called to pray with Jesus—just as they had slept on the Mount of Transfiguration. One might think that the dazzling brightness of the transfiguration would keep them awake, yet they still slept. Likewise, in Gethsemane, despite the intensity of the moment, they again succumbed to sleep. The call is to listen—not to turn a deaf ear. The voice is loud and clear: Listen to Jesus, the true fulfillment of the Law and the Prophets. Listen to Jesus, who taught us that the way to life is through death on the cross. Listen to Jesus, the Father’s beloved Son, who reveals the Father’s glory. When we listen to Him, we too will shine, our lives reflecting His glory. As we approach the upcoming Lenten season—a time of sacrifice, repentance, and prayer—may we tune our ears to truly listen to Him! May the Lord help us to listen to Him at all times! God bless!…
Blessings and Woes (Luke 6:20-26). Jesus teaches his disciples about the four blessings and their corresponding woes, preparing them for a blessed life that will keep them closer to God while warning them of the woes that could lead them away from Him.
Have Faith in Jesus! Christian life is hard. It often seems as though we expect life to be a smooth highway without bumps or curves. However, the truth is that life is filled with loss, failure, illness, difficult decisions, and heartache. At times, our life on earth can become so hard that even putting one foot in front of the other feels like an impossible task. While Christian life is challenging, we can confidently believe that Jesus is with us in our struggles. Consider the disciples who were with Jesus in the boat on the Sea of Galilee. A fierce storm struck, threatening to capsize the boat. It was a moment of panic—there was no way they could regain control of the situation. Everything was beyond their strength, ability, and wisdom. Yet, Jesus was with them—even though He was asleep. The disciples, overcome with fear, were consumed by the chaos around them. However, Jesus, though present in the same boat, was neither worried nor disturbed by the storm. The situation did not cause Him to panic. When the disciples woke Him up, He rebuked the wind and the raging waters, and they obeyed Him. Then Jesus asked them, “Where is your faith?” In our Christian journey, there is no guarantee that the ride will be smooth. This path is full of bumps and curves. However, we are assured that Jesus is with us on this journey. Someone once said that challenges in the Christian life are not just inevitable—they are a necessity. Through the miracle of calming the storm, Jesus teaches us not to panic but to have faith in Him, for He promised, “Behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20). May the Lord help us to always trust Jesus, especially during the bumpy parts of our journey. God bless!…
Blessedness! We use the word bless or blessed all the time. Blessed is a wonderful word. We say “bless you” when someone sneezes, wishing them healing and health. On other occasions, we say “bless you” when ending a conversation or gathering. People generally understand blessedness as wishing for good fortune or receiving exceptional comfort. The question remains: what is blessed ? What does Scripture teach us about it? The word blessed , in Greek makarios , appears at least 50 times in the New Testament. This word is predominantly used in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. In the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew and the Sermon on the Plain in Luke, Jesus discussed blessedness. Blessedness is an inner quality of a faithful servant. It is a state of contentment, satisfaction, and joy despite difficult circumstances. Someone once said that blessedness means religious joy. Mary called herself blessed when she said, “Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name” (Luke 1:48-49). She knew that she was blessed and acknowledged that it was from God, not from her efforts. Her circumstances remained the same, but she realized her blessedness. In Luke’s Sermon on the Plain , Jesus explained that blessedness is seen in being poor, hungry, weeping, or persecuted. These conditions may be rejected by others, but in them, blessedness is revealed. May the dear Lord help us understand the meaning of blessedness and guide us on the path to it! God bless!…
