She’s no friend of store-bought blends. Premade smoothies and cocktails, as well as frozen dinners, should be avoided if you’re trying to shed pounds, a Georgia women’s weight-loss coach claims.

In the headlines on #TheUpdate this Monday, firefighters in New York said that a voluntary evacuation overnight helped them protect more than 160 homes from a stubborn wildfire near the New Jersey border as officials in much of the Northeast coped with hundreds of brush fires in tinder-dry and windy conditions. Meanwhile, a major storm system that will bring a variety of impactful weather across the Midwest, Plains and into the Great Lakes this week looks to have something up its sleeve for the Northeast as well: Significant rainfall. A staggering 72% of Jewish college students in the US feel “unwelcome” on their campuses, while more than half have been victims of antisemitism, a dismal new report shows. And in New Orleans, two people were killed and 10 others were wounded in two separate shootings along a parade route and celebration attended by thousands, authorities said. There were no immediate arrests.

Hello everyone! We're going into #TheUpdate vault to play one of our many episodes throughout our many years of the show. For today's episode, we go into the world of 2020- or as we call it around here, Year 4 of The Update. It was a weird year- starting off in the WKRB studios and then going out on the road (in the middle of a pandemic no less!), but somehow, we found a way to make it work. Oh, and one last thing about this episode- after the show aired, one of my former producers who happened to be listening to the show called me up and invited me out to lunch. How about that?…

Travelers are going to have to plan ahead in 2025 as national parks across the country are now requiring reservations. Timed visits are being implemented more as popular destinations are experiencing overcrowding amid “selfie-tourism.” In the headlines on #TheUpdate this Wednesday, a lawsuit against New York alleging sexual abuse decades ago was tossed out by the state’s top court because it lacked specific information, drawing criticism from advocates concerned about setting unrealistically high standards for survivors to recall traumatic events. Get on board with subway safety or hop off the gravy train. President Trump’s transportation chief demanded the MTA fork over data on plants to tackle subway crime and safety — or else risk losing federal funding, a letter obtained shows. And stuck in space no more, NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams returned to Earth, hitching a different ride home to close out a saga that began with a bungled test flight more than nine months ago.…

They’re meant to cleanse hands and face, but first-class slobs are using them to scrub their foul and funky places. In the headlines on #TheUpdate this Tuesday, St. Patrick’s Day, the annual celebration of all things Irish, was marked by parades throughout the United States yesterday, from a procession through Manhattan to a rolling spectacle through Savannah’s historic streets. An 18-year-old student was stabbed in the back near his Manhattan high school during dismissal, police and sources say. And in Washington, a federal judge questioned whether the Trump administration ignored his orders to turn around planes carrying deportees to El Salvador, a possible violation of the decision he’d issued minutes before.…

If your New Year’s resolution was to travel more, don’t just double-check your passport expiration. Your ID may be rendered useless when flying due to new travel restrictions that will be enacted in 2025. In the headlines on #TheUpdate this Monday, St. Patrick’s Day, the annual celebration of all things Irish, is being marked in cities across the country with boisterous parades and celebrations. According to a new poll, nearly 90% of New York City voters support expanding involuntary commitment and care of mentally ill residents roaming the streets or the subway. And a dynamic storm that prompted foreboding predictions of dangerous weekend weather spawned tornadoes, dust storms and wildfires that killed at least 39 people and destroyed hundreds of homes and businesses.…

Good looks run in their blood. A youth chaser has revealed that she will be receiving a blood transfusion from her son to stave off aging. In the headlines on #TheUpdate this Friday, demonstrators from a Jewish group filled the lobby of Trump Tower to denounce the immigration arrest of Mahmoud Khalil, a pro-Palestinian activist who helped lead protests against Israel at Columbia University. Some of the anti-Israel protesters who besieged a Columbia University academic building last spring have been tossed or suspended — while some who have since graduated lost their diplomas temporarily, officials say. And in Washington, President Trump is set to visit the Justice Department to rally support for his administration’s tough-on-crime agenda, an appearance expected to double as a victory lap after he emerged legally and politically unscathed from two federal prosecutions that were dismissed after his election win last fall.…

A man puts his success down to astrology and manifesting — which he says has won him everything from his soulmate and dream job…to the best parking spaces. In the headlines on #TheUpdate this Thursday, a Long Island baby tested positive for measles as health officials issued an ominous warning that at least 12 more people may have been exposed to the virus. The decomposed bodies of a 6-year-old boy and his mother were found on a bed inside a Brooklyn apartment, according to cops and law enforcement sources. And Mahmoud Khalil will remain detained in Louisiana until at least next week following an initial court hearing in New York over the Trump administration’s plans to deport the Columbia University graduate student for his role in campus protests against Israel.…

Some folks may be green with envy. Coca-Cola has brought back the Lime Coke flavor, which hasn’t been on store shelves for 18 years. In the headlines on #TheUpdate this Wednesday, the judge weighing the Justice Department’s request to dismiss corruption charges against Mayor Adams has canceled a hearing scheduled for Friday, indicating a ruling could be imminent. A school bus carrying 31 people overturned on the Garden State Parkway in New Jersey, sending more than a dozen people to hospitals, officials said. And in Washington, the Education Department plans to lay off more than 1,300 of its employees as part of an effort to halve the organization’s staff -- a prelude to President Trump’s plan to dismantle the agency.…

It’s no secret that Aussie slang is a mystery to anyone outside of the country — and even to many who live there. But, one American TikTok creator has kickstarted a debate around one particular slang term, and revealed that maybe we’re not even sure what we’re talking about. In the headlines on #TheUpdate this Tuesday, President Trump warned that the arrest and possible deportation of a Palestinian activist who helped lead protests at Columbia University will be the first “of many to come” as his administration cracks down on campus demonstrations against Israel and the war in Gaza. The couple suspected of leaving a 3-year-old boy to die at a Brooklyn hospital were still nowhere to be found, as sources revealed the boy was the subject of a custody battle when he was about a year old. And on Wall Street, The U.S. stock market’s sell-off cut deeper as they questioned how much pain President Trump will let the economy endure through tariffs and other policies in order to get what he wants.…
