A bumper episode this week, as we clearly have a lot to get off our chests following the festive break.

We head back into the warm embrace of the year 1999, to give highly underrated commercial flop The Matrix another roll of the dice (Yes, we know. Watching this film again was our Christmas treat to each other. Don’t judge).

Elsewhere, we talk about peak middle age and how it compels men to make beer, plus there’s a roundup of Star Wars series Skeleton Crew, as it hits its penultimate episode.

Send us a text It's as much about the Mafia as Midichlorians this week, as we look back on limited series The Offer, now that both the boys have watched it all. Meanwhile, David Cronenberg's 1981 Sci Fi/Horror classic Scanners gets its time in the Second Chance sun. The special effects are literally mind blowing, but is it all in (pulsing) vein? To complete our recent gangster motif, Hutch offers up two corkers for next week's review, as a birthday present to Steff. Send us a text This is a sad week for cinema, due to the passing of David Lynch. We pay tribute to the great director and his wonderful body of work. On a lighter note, Hutch has finished Skeleton Crew now, so we have a proper debrief on the series as a whole, including input from another 42 year old bloke that isn't us! Then there's more solid "catch them whilst you can" recommendations in Last Chance Cinema Club, meanwhile under the Second Chance lens is 2012's sequel to a remake Wrath of the Titans. You can contact us at: podcast@2ndchancecinemaclub.com We can be found on: Instagram - @2ndchancecinemaclub…

Send us a text We kick this week off with a Star Wars series update. There's news on Ahsoka season two, and Steff gives us his spoiler free thoughts on the now complete Skeleton Crew series. A spoiler filled review of the show will be coming soon (IE when Hutch has watched it). Our movie review this week is 2002’s under house zombie fest, Resident Evil. It may not have enough giant animals for Steff’s source material loving, puritan view, but it sure does show you the best way to take down a zombie dog (or your neighbour’s). Last Chance Cinema Club gives us a roundup of the most recent films to be disappearing from Prime, and it almost spoils next week’s movie review as well. If you have any views to share on 2012’s Wrath of the Titans, get in touch and we may well feature your message on next week’s show. Send us a text It's Christmas! Again... Denied a week off to bring you more festive content, the boys are back to serve up another helping of dry movie turkey. On our plate this week is 2017's Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. It's a Luc Besson helmed CGI fest, but does it ring our jingle bells? Or has it gone down like cold brussels sprouts? We also dial up the festive cheer by discussing our top three Christmas movies, with some unconventional choices. There's also a roundup of the latest movies leaving Prime, in our Last Chance Cinema Section. Send us a text It's our Christmas episode and the question on everyone's lips is surely whether Steff is on the naughty list this year? Listen in to find out. Our movie review this week is a brand new offering, Amazon's budget busting foray into Christmas cash ins, Red One. And to think we could have had Die Hard... Despite being promised a week off, there may be some bonus 2CCC action next week. You lucky, lucky people... You can contact us at: podcast@2ndchancecinemaclub.com We can be found on: Instagram - @2ndchancecinemaclub…

Send us a text Another slice of Tom Cruise Sci-Fi goodness comes under the scrutiny of our all seeing eyes this week, as we review Steven Spielberg's 2005 H.G Wells baiting War of the Worlds movie. Steff flexes his authority here as he's read the book, heard the album, lived the live experience and got the t-shirt to prove it. Although as you'd expect, Hutch has much to contribute to the discussion too. Highlights include a fascinating insight into the Squirrel Wars of 1876, and a "hilarious" story about people walking into the wrong cinema screen... It's our festive episode next week, so be sure to tune in as we review a brand new Christmas movie. Send us a text Bumper episode this week as Steff kicks off by telling us about his busy film and TV related weekend. In our Alone in the South Passage section this week we have a rundown of new Star Wars series: Skeleton Crew (but not from Hutch, he didn't watch it). Then news of a Boba Fett crowdfunding opportunity that's too good to miss! Our main attraction is a review of 2010's Tron Legacy, directed by Joseph Kosinski. Can we see past the appalling de-aging technology and loose legalities of business succession, to appreciate this Sci-Fi sequel? Tune in to find out. There's a new feature this week as we discuss must see films leaving streaming services in the near future, in our Last Chance Cinema Club section. You can contact us at: podcast@2ndchancecinemaclub.com We can be found on: Instagram - @2ndchancecinemaclub…

Send us a text This week Hutch has had two very different musical experiences, whilst Steff battled vampires and became confused over Brazilian videos. We then review 2013’s Oblivion, starring Tom Cruise and Morgan Freeman. Verdict in a nutshell? We have great things to say about the first two thirds of it! Listen in for the full skinny. Next week we will be reviewing 2010’s TRON: Legacy, also directed by Joseph Kosinski. Tuesday 3rd December sees the release of new Star Wars streaming series Skeleton Crew, so we will be giving some time over in our next episode to share our thoughts on the opening double header. You can contact us at: podcast@2ndchancecinemaclub.com We can be found on: Instagram - @2ndchancecinemaclub…

Send us a text A new dawn rises on your favourite “hosted by two slightly grumpy and sweary middle-aged Englishmen” podcast. We have now turned our infamous movie review section into the main focus of the show and are officially rebranding as the 2nd Chance Cinema Club! The first film under our irreverent microscope is Paul Verhoeven’s gaslight fest, 1990’s Total Recall. Both Steff and Hutch remember this film fondly, but is it still as good as we recall (sorry), or is that just the implants talking? But fear not, Alone in the South Passage is still going strong, and will remain as our weekly Star Wars feature. This week we talk about the new John Williams documentary on Disney+ and get a roundup of the various Star Wars movies in production. You can contact us at: podcast@2ndchancecinemaclub.com We can be found on: Instagram - @2ndchancecinemaclub…

Send us a text We are back baby! After a planned and an unplanned break, there's lots to catch up on. So we dive right in to hear about what the boys have been up to. Basically, Steff's been on holiday, started a new job and crafted a convoluted Halloween outfit. Meanwhile, Hutch has... just been really quite unwell. There's plenty of news too, including a bit of a bombshell regarding the show itself! In 2nd Chance Cinema Club, we tear apart 1995's Species, directed by Roger Donaldson. Is it just a hornier version of Alien? Tune in to see what we think. We may look a little different next week, but rest assured, the content will be just as trite and self serving as you've come to expect. You can contact us at: podcast@2ndchancecinemaclub.com We can be found on: Instagram - @2ndchancecinemaclub…

Send us a text Steff has been in the midlands with a creative crowd over the weekend, and Hutch has not. But what they have both done is go to see Return of the Jedi, and there's a couple of revelations that seeing it on the silver screen has imparted upon them. Straying dangerously into serious territory for a moment, we then take some time to discuss the role and duty of production companies to their actors, when they come under social media attack. Meanwhile, in 2nd Chance Cinema Club, we discuss Denis Villeneuve's 2017 follow up to a sci-fi classic, as we review Blade Runner 2049. Steff's on holiday next week. Will Hutch put some solo content together, or just put his feet up? Check back soon and find out! You can contact us at: podcast@2ndchancecinemaclub.com We can be found on: Instagram - @2ndchancecinemaclub…

Send us a text The boys have been to the cinema to see that little known sequel to Star Wars this week. They loved it so much, they've decided to pick a load of holes in it. Steff is currently between jobs, but luckily Hutch has a suggestion for a sure-fire Christmas present. Meanwhile, in 2nd Chance Cinema Club, we dissect an ambitious sci-fi movie directed by the Wachowskis. No, not that one- sorry. You can contact us at: podcast@2ndchancecinemaclub.com We can be found on: Instagram - @2ndchancecinemaclub…

Send us a text Stop the press! David has been to see Episode IV in the cinema for the very first time this week. So we discuss the big screen experience. Meanwhile, Steff tells us about his time watching Blade Runner with a live orchestra, although his partner seemed to be expecting something different... In 2nd Chance Cinema Club, we dissect 2022's The Batman in almost as much time as it takes to watch the damn film. You can contact us at: podcast@2ndchancecinemaclub.com We can be found on: Instagram - @2ndchancecinemaclub…

Send us a text Ever wanted the skinny on how the Hollywood Walk of Fame works? No? Well tough, because you're getting it this week. Also, is Ewan McGregor cool? We discuss the latest Star Wars content to hit Disney+, with the new animated series Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, available to stream now. Meanwhile, the shock revelation that Steff isn't Wokingham's most famous son leads to an impromptu game of 20 questions as Hutch figures out just exactly who is. In 2nd Chance Cinema Club, we get around to discussing 2003's The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, which Steff clearly hates. Or does he? It's... not really clear.
