Synopsis: This is the audio version of the 2-page article I wrote and published on rabbischneeweiss.substack.com/ on 1/9/25, titled: Vayechi: How Never to Be Angry at Anyone or Hate Anyone (Part 1: Questions). Yes, this is the second week in a row that I've written a "questions only" article. Unlike last time, I plan on writing Part 2 (for paid subscribers). I published this today because I'll be traveling.
-----
It’s a new year on the Gregorian calendar, a new year of my life (I turn 41 on January 10th), and a new opportunity for sponsorships! I currently don’t have any sponsorships lined up for 2025, so I’d like to try an experiment: for every week you sponsor, I’ll include a free month of paid subscriber access to the Rabbi Schneeweiss Substack! If you’ve been curious about my writing that’s too controversial, too personal, or too speculative to publish publicly, this is a great way to gain access while supporting my Torah endeavors!

If you've gained from what you've learned here, please consider contributing to my Patreon at www.patreon.com/rabbischneeweiss. Alternatively, if you would like to make a direct contribution to the "Rabbi Schneeweiss Torah Content Fund," my Venmo is @Matt-Schneeweiss, and my Zelle and PayPal are mattschneeweiss at gmail. Even a small contribution goes a long way to covering the costs of my podcasts, and will provide me with the financial freedom to produce even more Torah content for you.
If you would like to sponsor a day's or a week's worth of content, or if you are interested in enlisting my services as a teacher or tutor, you can reach me at rabbischneeweiss at gmail. Thank you to my listeners for listening, thank you to my readers for reading, and thank you to my supporters for supporting my efforts to make Torah ideas available and accessible to everyone.

Have any questions, insights, or feedback? Send me a text! Length: 1 hour 27 minutes Synopsis: This evening (2/20/25), in lieu of our regularly scheduled Pirkei Avos Shiur for women, we took up the topic that I'm currently writing about for my Friday substack article. We began by asking all the questions we could on this three-word pasuk, and by the end of the shiur, we answered all but one. The shiur itself focused on a highly disturbing minority view (expressed by only 3.5 meforshim) about what the Torah wants us to do to witches. For the shorter version of this, check out my article. For the full version, watch or listen to this shiur. Rabbi Matt Schneeweiss: Emor / Kedoshim: Should Kids Be Taken to Magic Shows? ----- The Torah content for the entire month of February has been sponsored by Y.K. with gratitude to Rabbi Schneeweiss for providing a clear and easily accessible path to personal growth via his reliably interesting and inspiring Torah content. ----- If you've gained from what you've learned here, please consider contributing to my Patreon at www.patreon.com/rabbischneeweiss . Have any questions, insights, or feedback? Send me a text! Length: 1 hour 53 minutes Synopsis: Last night (2/6/25), in our Thursday night Pirkei Avos shiur for women, we did something a little unusual: analyzing TWO mishnayos with only ONE commentary. When I sat down to prepare for this shiur, I noticed the parallel wording in 4:11 and 5:17. When I read the Meiri, I saw that he gave a similar interpretation of both, but it was JUST different enough to raise a host of problems. Our goal was to emerge with a unified understanding of his full view, and I'm pleased to report that we succeeded! ----- מקורות: מאירי - אבות ד:יא; ה:יז ----- The Torah content for the entire month of February has been sponsored by Y.K. with gratitude to Rabbi Schneeweiss for providing a clear and easily accessible path to personal growth via his reliably interesting and inspiring Torah content. ----- If you've gained from what you've learned here, please consider contributing to my Patreon at www.patreon.com/rabbischneeweiss . Have any questions, insights, or feedback? Send me a text! Length: 1 hour 35 minutes Synopsis: Tonight (1/2/25), in our Thursday night Pirkei Avos shiur for women, we took up an intriguing mishnah about the effects of mitzvos and aveiros. We ended up with two solid interpretations - one that emerged during the shiur, and another based on an article I wrote back in 2012 - as well as a fundamental discourse on reward and punishment according to Rabbeinu Bachya, which we (sadly) didn't have time to fully tie back into our understanding of the mishnah. Definitely a worthwhile learning session, even if we didn't bring it to an elegant close! ----- מקורות: אבות ד:יא רש"י רמב"ם רבינו יונה רבינו בחיי - אבות ד:יא;ב; א:ג Rabbi Matt Schneeweiss, "Angelic Advocates and Accusers" https://kolhaseridim.blogspot.com/2015/07/angelic-advocates-and-accusers.html ----- This week's Torah content has been sponsored l'zecher nishmas Yosef Yoshayahu ben Yechezkel Eliezer, whose yahrzeit is on the 3rd of Teves. Have any questions, insights, or feedback? Send me a text! Length: 1 hour 36 minutes Synopsis: This evening (12/12/24), in our Thursday night Pirkei Avos shiur for women, we learned another mishnah about how to achieve the proper learning-work balance. This mishnah was strange in that each clause seemed to be an idea that wasn't a chidush because it's already been covered elsewhere in Pirkei Avos. Additionally, the relationship between the three clauses wasn't apparent. Thankfully, we were able to arrive at a unified theory, picking up on several other ideas along the way! ----- מקורות: אבות ד:י רש"י רמב"ם רבינו יונה מאירי רמב"ם - אבות א:טו Rabbi Israel Chait - Avos 1:15 ----- This week's Torah content has been generously sponsored by Ann, a dedicated supporter of the Rabbi Schneeweiss Torah Content Fund.
