Wisdom from A Bulldog Welcome to today's #WednesdayWisdom from Way Of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods Today's insight was inspired by Nobel laureate, twice British prime minister and knighted author and statesman, Winston Churchill. “Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.” — Sir Winston Churchill I get quite a few quotes sent to me during the year, but the best one sent to me in recent years has to be from reader Kevin S., who suggested we use this beautiful and eminently true assessment of socialism by the great Winston Churchill. The English statesman saw socialism’s evils first hand, and thanks to his resolve and his ability to rally his countrymen, he helped thwart socialism’s tyranny before it could take over Europe. For that, free people around the globe owe a debt to the “British Bulldog.” Jim Woods March 22, 2023 For more great resources and inspiration visit WayOfTheRenaissanceMan.com WayOfTheRenaissanceMan.com/store for Way of the Renaissance Man Fans is open. Welcome to today's #WednesdayWisdom from Way Of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods Today's insight was inspired by a true American Renaissance Man, scientist, writer, statesman, and philosopher, Benjamin Franklin. “A good conscience is a continual Christmas.” –Benjamin Franklin This time of year is replete with reflection on the past 12 months. It’s also a time when we prepare ourselves for the coming year. But before you get to either of these things, remember what Benjamin Franklin said about a good conscience. You see, when our hearts and minds are clear, we can see the past for what it is and the future for what it should be — and that, my friends, will bring you holiday cheer throughout the year. From all of us here on the Way of the Renaissance Man team, we wish you the very happiest of holidays. Welcome to today's #WednesdayWisdom from Way Of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods Today's insight was inspired by an American politician who served as the 35th president of the United States, John F. Kennedy. “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” — John F. Kennedy As the late president so poignantly put it, gratitude is much more about action than mere words. This Thanksgiving, don’t just merely speak about the things you’re grateful for. This year, act on that feeling of gratitude and do something special for the people you value most — including yourself. Welcome to today's #WednesdayWisdom from Way Of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods. Today's insight was inspired by English-born American political activist, philosopher, political theorist and revolutionary, Thomas Paine. “Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one.” –Thomas Paine I think the great Thomas Paine said it all with this famous quote, so I’ll refrain from any further elaboration other than to say that if you haven’t read any of this incredible thinker’s work, then you need to do so immediately. I guarantee you’ll find his thought-provoking wisdom both challenging and inspiring. Welcome to today's #WednesdayWisdom from Way of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods. Today's insight was inspired by an American statesman, diplomat, Founding Father and the fourth president of the United States, James Madison Jr.. “If tyranny and oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.” –James Madison I think it’s important, especially today, to remember Madison’s warning. Welcome to today's #WednesdayWisdom from Way of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods Today's insight was inspired by American novelist, poet, and one of the pioneers of the Beat Generation, Jack Kerouac. “My fault, my failure, is not in the passions I have, but in my lack of control of them.” –Jack Kerouac Passion is what makes life worth living. But controlling your passions is just as important as cultivating them. When it comes to a healthy life, balancing your enthusiasm and your self-discipline are the dual keys to success. Welcome to today's #WednesdayWisdom from Way of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods Today's insight was inspired by American writer, humorist, entrepreneur, publisher, and lecturer, Mark Twain. “All you need is ignorance and confidence and the success is sure.” –Mark Twain The iconic writer provides us with a humorous, yet quite profound piece of advice in the above quip. You see, sometimes not knowing what you supposedly are unable to do is just enough of an edge to get that thing done. Believe in yourself, don’t listen to naysayers, and don’t accept limitations. Do that, and success is sure. Welcome to today's #WednesdayWisdom from Way of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods Today's insight was inspired by the Ancient Chinese military treatise, The Art of War by Sun Tsu. “Know thy self, know thy enemy. A thousand battles, a thousand victories.” — Sun Tzu The iconic military strategist’s seminal work, “The Art of War,” is replete with lessons about life. Here, Sun Tzu reminds us that the key to victory is not only knowing your enemy, but also knowing yourself. Until you master yourself, you can never really be confident in any of life’s battles. Up next on way of the Renaissance Man, Will AI destroy Humankind Featuring Robert Deadman —and other lighthearted subjects. Way of the Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods Will AI destroy humankind—and other lighthearted subjects. That’s the serious, yet playfully intriguing discussion I had with my friend, computer scientist, investor and fellow Renaissance Man, Robert Deadman (and yes, that is his real last name). Robert is one of those rare individuals who possesses a breadth of knowledge that he can eloquently translate into casual conversation, even about such advanced and interesting topics as the rise of Artificial Intelligence, or AI, and the potential benefits and dangers of this technology. In this wide-ranging conversation, Robert and I discuss the current state of AI, and what the future holds for this ubiquitous technology. Topics here include such questions as… At what point will AI begin making its own decisions? How far away is this circumstance? What is the role of quantum computing in this question? Will AI actually have “free will”? When will the move from “Artificial Intelligence” become “Artificial Sentience”? Can we solve the so-called “Alignment” problem of AI, and how can we really understand this concept? I absolutely loved this conversation with the fascinating Robert Deadman, and at the risk of alienating my other guests, I must say that this was my favorite podcast yet—and I hope you think so as well. And now, my interview with Robert Deadman. Wisdom of a Bull Rider Welcome to today's #WednesdayWisdom from Way of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods Today's insight was inspired by American professional rodeo cowboy, Hall of Fame world champion bull rider, and co-founder of the PBR, Professional Bull Riders organization, Tuff Hedeman. “Bear down, try hard and never quit. NEVER!” –Tuff Hedeman, World Champion Bull Rider There’s perhaps no sport that requires more grit, determination and mental and physical toughness than bull riding. Nobody knows that better than four-time world champion Tuff Hedeman. One of Tuff’s keys to success was, well, his toughness. No matter how hard things got or how much pain he felt, Tuff got on that bull and never quit. And though the lives of most people don’t require strapping themselves to a 1600 lb.-mass of bucking muscle, we all have our own personal bulls to ride. So when things get tough, remember what Tuff says. Never quit. NEVER! Up next on way of the Renaissance Man, investor Kevin O’Leary enters the Renaissance Man shark tank…. Kevin O’Leary, also known by his nickname, “Mr. Wonderful,” is one of the stars of the CNBC show “Shark Tank,” a favorite TV program of this entrepreneurial Renaissance Man. In this episode, I turn the tables on Mr. Wonderful as he enters the Renaissance Man shark tank to talk about his new company, cryptocurrency trading platform WonderFi. The interview took place on the cusp of an interesting time for cryptocurrency, as the big June 2022 swoon in the price of Bitcoin has rattled investors, along with many companies in the industry. According to O’Leary, what Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies really need to flourish is, ironically, some industry regulation, and as he puts it, “that’s when the real money is going to come into it.” Along with WonderFi CEO Ben Samaroo, O’Leary explains that despite the hype of cryptocurrencies, the big money players such as pension funds and sovereign wealth funds have yet to embrace the asset class. Once this happens, which will take a regulated, compliant and transparent platform such as that provided by WonderFi, the big gains in cryptocurrencies will really begin. I very much enjoyed my discussion with Mr. Wonderful and his partner Ben Samaroo, and it couldn’t come at a more interesting time for the cryptocurrency industry. And now, my interview with Kevin O’Leary and Ben Samaroo… This Way of the Renaissance Man Ethos Collection Weekender bag is the perfect companion for every occasion—take it with you when traveling, running daily errands, or going to the gym. Welcome to today's #WednesdayWisdom from Way of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods Today's insight was inspired by American Singer/songwriter, founder and former front man for Hootie and the Blowfish, Darius Rucker. Welcome to today's #WednesdayWisdom from Way of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods Today's insight was inspired by American short story writer, outdoorsman, and novelist who won the Pulitzer Prize (1953) and the Nobel Prize in Literature (1954) for his novel The Old Man and the Sea, Earnest Hemingway. “The world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places.” –Ernest Hemingway As a human, you’re going to experience sorrow, sadness and heartbreak. But it’s how you emerge from these that determine your existence. Often, coming out stronger in the broken places is the difference between being happy, and living a life of pain. Up next on Way of the Renaissance Man, Educating America Conceptually Featuring Ed Thompson One of the best things about having the Way of the Renaissance Man podcast is I get to have great conversations with the some of the smartest people in the world. You often hear that education is the key to success. And while I agree with that statement in principle, it’s important to understand that it is the kind of education one gets that really matters. In the new episode of the Way of the Renaissance Man podcast, I speak with Ed Thompson, a man whose mission is to help reeducate America, conceptually. Ed is the founder of the Conceptual Education Project, a group spearheading an effort to reform the education system by guiding it away from the current “progressive” philosophy first created by John Dewey, and into a more “conceptual” philosophy. The basis of the organization’s program is to help train intellectuals who can articulate and advocate a rational approach to primary and secondary education, with a view to radically influencing how teachers colleges teach. If you are concerned with the current state of the anti-conceptual approach to education that pervades America’s K-12 system, and you want to find out how you can help make things more philosophical, and more conceptual, then this episode is a great place to start. Welcome to today's #WednesdayWisdom from Way Of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods This insight was inspired by a quote from English writer, book reviewer, biographer, and travel author, Evelyn Waugh. "When we argue for our limitations, we get to keep them." –Evelyn Waugh The great British author had a distinct way with words, and that way is on full display here in the above quote. And while I subscribe to the thesis that a man’s got to know his limitations, I also think most people are trapped in a cocoon of self-imposed limitations. Don’t accept these limits. Doing so will severely curtail your ability to prevail in life. Up next on Way of the Renaissance Man, FreedomFest, Battle Buddies and Exposing Frauds Featuring Rich Checkan One of the best things about having the Way of the Renaissance Man podcast is I get to have great conversations with the some of the smartest people in the world. And on the latest episode, I do just that, as I welcome my friend, fellow U.S. Army veteran, West Point graduate and the premier expert in the field of precious metals investing, Rich Checkan. Rich is the President and COO of Asset Strategies International (ASI), which is the only dealer of physical gold, silver, and other precious metals that I recommend. In this episode, we discuss the importance of being a critical thinker, and the importance of talking about ideas and exposing oneself to all opinions. It is through the process of filtering out the good from the bad ideas, and knowing when you can, and cannot, compromise, that you become a better decision maker. Other topics in this wide-ranging discussion include the January 6th insurrection, the importance of rational arguments, the virtue of rational persuasion, the role of passion in the world and the critical need to do something meaningful in life. Plus, no discussion with Rich Checkan would be complete without his expert view on gold and precious metals. Ward on Gratitude Welcome to today's #WednesdayWisdom from Way Of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods Today's insight was inspired by American motivational writer, William Arthur Ward. “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” — William Arthur Ward Expressing thanks for all our blessings at this time of year is common. Yet when it comes to expressing thanks and gratitude for all we have, I think any time of year is the right time. So, give yourself and those around you that wrapped present. It will make everyone feel better, especially you. And now, here's Jim Woods. “I just wish to shine brighter, and if it burns my body to a crisp, I’m happy to go right now.” -Henry Rollins That bit of high-intensity wisdom comes from a man who I admire deeply; singer, songwriter, spoken-word artist, author, actor, radio and TV show host, publisher and true renaissance man, Henry Rollins. Henry made his mark on pop culture as the frontman for the quintessential punk rock band Black Flag, and then later via the Rollins Band, and he turned that experience into a multi-faceted and eminently interesting career fit for a true polymath. His career continues today, mostly through writing and one-man spoken word shows that combine the intensity of a punk rock concert with the intellectual stimulation of a Ted Talk . If you are a long-time reader of The Deep Woods, part of my financial publications, you probably know that I am a huge music fan and a huge fan of renaissance men (and women) who are able to do many different things in life and to do those things very well. In fact, this entire website and podcast appropriately called Way of the Renaissance Man, is dedicated to extracting wisdom and knowledge from these types of individuals so that we can apply that wisdom and knowledge to our own lives. A couple of years ago, another polymath I admire, entrepreneur, investor and business inspirer Evan Carmichael compiled a list that he called “Henry Rollins’s Top 10 Rules for Success.” You can watch the video on YouTube. I recommend doing so, as it will give you a sense of the intensity and focus Henry puts into just about every breath he takes. Here is a list of those top 10 rules (complete with sage advice straight from Henry himself), rules that I also try to live by, and rules that can help everyone — regardless of what stage they are in life — achieve just that little bit extra that makes life glorious. Welcome to today's #WednesdayWisdom from Way Of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods Today's insight was inspired by American novelist, poet, and non-fiction author, Richard Wright. “Don’t leave inferences to be drawn when evidence can be presented.” — Richard Wright The great American novelist is chiefly known for his brilliant novel “Native Son” and his even more poignant memoir “Black Boy,” two works I highly recommend. Here, the author reminds us that evidence is more powerful than inferences, but only if we’re willing to stare existence in the face and confront the objective reality of the world. Now more than ever, facts and objective reality are what the world needs to embrace. At the same time, we also need to shed the temptation to draw tribal inferences. On Man’s Noble Nature Welcome to today's #WednesdayWisdom from Way Of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods Today's insight was inspired by writer, novelist, and philosopher, Ayn Rand. “Whatever their future, at the dawn of their lives, men seek a noble vision of man’s nature and of life’s potential.” –Ayn Rand, “The Fountainhead” This noble sense of mankind in novelist/philosopher Ayn Rand’s work is a not-too-common line of thinking in the history of literature and thought. Perhaps it’s why some of the greatest heroes that ever graced the printed page are found in her masterworks “The Fountainhead” and “Atlas Shrugged.” I am a big advocate of people maximizing their potential in life, and one way to do this is to see the world as a noble place where the achievement of values is indeed possible. Up next on Way of the Renaissance Man, Free to Choose Featuring Robert Chatfield. When I was a kid, I watched a documentary that influenced my young brain immensely, and it was called “Free To Choose.” The original 1980, 10-part television series was by the great Nobel Prize-winning economist Milton Friedman . In academic circles, Friedman was chiefly associated with the renaissance of the role of money in inflation and the consequent renewed understanding of the instrument of monetary policy. For his studies in these subjects, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1976. Yet it was the “Free To Choose” documentary, as well as his many subsequent public appearances via lectures and on TV, that helped bring into the mainstream the meaning of freedom, and why it is so vital to economic prosperity and social prosperity. The “happy warrior” approach that Friedman took, as well as his passion for ideas, are kept alive by the Free To Choose Network, a global media nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting Friedman’s work, as well as other outstanding scholars such as Thomas Sowell. Directing that effort is Free To Choose Network President and CEO Robert Chatfield. At the recent FreedomFest Conference, Chatfield sat down with me to reminisce about Freidman, his wife and intellectual partner Rose, Friedman’s insatiable intellectual curiosity, the history of the “Free To Choose” documentary and how it came to fruition, and even how Milton Friedman, at age 90, learned how to do stomach crunches! I loved this interview with Robert Chatfield, and if you’ve ever wanted to learn more about the great Milton Friedman and the critical role he played in my life, and the life of society at large, then this episode is just for you. Welcome to today's #WednesdayWisdom from Way Of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods Today's insight was inspired by Hall of Fame Trial Lawyer and American Academy of Achievement Golden Plate award recipient, Louis Nizer. The Hands of an Artist “A man who works with his hands is a laborer; a man who works with his hands and his brain is a craftsman; but a man who works with his hands and his brain and his heart is an artist.” — Louis Nizer The British-born lawyer and author provides us a very clear verbal picture of the essence of what it is to be an artist. But you don’t have to be an artist in the traditional sense to benefit from this wisdom. If you act with your hands, brain and heart in whatever you choose to do in life, you’ll be that much closer to experiencing the passion, joy and success that you truly deserve. Welcome to today's #WednesdayWisdom from Way Of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods Today's insight was inspired by a simple, yet powerful passage from the bible — Proverbs 21:5. “The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty.” — Proverbs 21:5 This verse from Proverbs extols the virtue of hard work and its connection with material gain. It also warns that if you are careless with your decisions, it could end up costing you plenty. Words to live by, wouldn’t you agree? Welcome to today's Audio Essay from Way Of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods Today marks the 20th anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center September 11, 2001. In this special audio presentation, Jim offers his poem and thoughts on this day. And now, here's Jim Woods. The Cat and the Horror By Jim Woods There was a cat sleeping on my porch She didn’t know what I had witnessed The lacerated skyline of metropolis A bleeding out of her twin sons Flying lancets piercing steel hulls Black smoke seasoning the azure sky As the falling man descends to the concrete Incendiary ideas born in Bronze To please a prophet on a white horse Hatred of the good for being the good Crumbles a once-proud icon Falling ash blankets District streets A macabre concoction of concrete, bone, blood Fury rises in the giant’s heart Rage and revenge burn white Country targeted, let there be fight Two decades later, let there be flight There is a cat sleeping on my porch While the world remembers Jim Woods September 11, 2021 ********** On Saturday, we mark the 20th anniversary of the attacks on September 11, 2001. And yet the passing of two decades hasn’t been enough to fade our scars. And for me, those scars will never be allowed to fade. Etched on my personal black box recorder are the memories I had circa 1999, when I checked in at the World Trade Center lobby to report to work for my first day at Morgan Stanley. The firm’s training program for new advisers/traders took place in those Twin Towers, and in the weeks that followed, I spent many an afternoon high atop the Manhattan skyline, learning the business inside the iconic monument erected to celebrate capitalism, Western achievement and the wealth of nations. Their boldness, their glaring simplicity, their twin-brother like stance and their defiance of the rest of the New York City skyline was all part of the reason the World Trade Center was targeted for destruction by forces whose primary directive is death to the infidel. On that day, when the blue skies were pierced by the stiletto insertion of commercial jets into the towers, I watched the events unravel from some 2,500 miles west. A condo nestled at the foot of the Hollywood Hills hardly seemed congruent to the billowing smoke oozing out of the structural siblings. The only connection in my mind was… my mind. A mind having been there just a couple of years earlier, wondering what it would be like to actually be there in that moment. Wondering if I would have been incinerated along with the roughly 2,600 other souls that were extinguished that day. Wondering if I would have acted heroically, the way so many did. Wondering if I would have succumbed to the cowardice that so often accompanies paralytic fear. I would like to think I could have been a hero. I need to think I would have been a hero. Fortunately, I didn’t have to find out. Instead, from afar, from the safety of Hollywood, I watched. All day, all night, I watched. Compelled by the horror; compelled by the enormity. Thinking to myself, “Will this be the world from here on?” Would the world be plunged into war? At that moment, I wanted war. I wanted vengeance. I wanted to pound those responsible, and the philosophy that animated these acts, into a pulp. I still want to. I want to stoke the burn of that day. I want to remember the collapse of icons. I want to keep calling out the life-hating, celebratory death cult of ideas that is radical Islam, and I want to rejoice in its defeat. The scars of history must never be allowed to heal, and no salve of time should be permitted to mask the day America would be altered forever. Welcome to today's #WednesdayWisdom from Way Of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods Today's insight was inspired by Scottish Enlightenment philosopher, economist, historian and essayist, David Hume. “It is seldom that liberty of any kind is lost all at once.” –David Hume The brilliant David Hume knew that to preserve liberty, you have to recognize that it tends to decay slowly in societies that forget to hold it up as a core principle. Welcome to today's #WednesdayWisdom from Way Of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods Today's insight was inspired by American actor and singer songwriter Ryan Bingham, and a selection from his Mescalito album with lyrics from his song “Sunrise”. In a special Way Of The Renaissance Man performance, Jim plays and sings the quoted lyrics in today's Wednesday Wisdom feature. And now, here's the Renaissance Man himself... Well I’m living in the desert with a one eyed dog Well You could lead a blind man out of Vietnam Cause everybody’s begging, everybody wants a chance Stuck in a storm, well do a rain dance — Ryan Bingham, “Sunrise” The Americana music star’s folksy lyrics remind us of a very profound lesson in life; namely, that when things get really tough, the best response is to embrace the challenge and meet it head on. A more common way of stating this principle is, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” But I just think, “Stuck in a storm, well do a rain dance,” is a lot more poetic. Welcome to today's #WednesdayWisdom from Way Of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods Today's insight was inspired by American journalist, poet, Civil War veteran and author of "the Devil's Dictionary," named as one of "The 100 Greatest Masterpieces of American Literature" by the American Revolution Bicentennial Administration, Ambrose Bierce. “Ocean: A body of water occupying about two-thirds of a world made for man — who has no gills.” — Ambrose Bierce The irony of nature is all around us. As the great Ambrose Bierce reminds us, we live on a planet that’s mostly water, yet we can’t drink that water, nor can we breathe it. It’s the same situation with much of life. Man has limited resources, limited time and limited energy. Yet for most of us, we want to do it all. Given the finite nature of the time we have on this ocean-dominated planet, doesn’t it just make sense to live life to the fullest, and to maximize the truly important aspects of life such as love, relationships, productive achievement, helping our fellow man? Welcome to today's #WednesdayWisdom from Way Of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods Today's insight was inspired by English-born American political activist, philosopher, political theorist, and revolutionary, Thomas Paine. “The real man smiles in trouble, gathers strength from distress, and grows brave by reflection.” — Thomas Paine Perhaps my favorite Founding Father, Thomas Paine was a man of towering intellect. In this week’s quote, he offers up a few keys to being a “real man,” as in the type of man I certainly strive to be. Way of the Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods

Welcome to today's #WednesdayWisdom from Way Of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods Today's insight was inspired by American writer, humorist, entrepreneur, publisher, and lecturer, Mark Twain. “The secret of getting ahead is getting started.” –Mark Twain Do you want to succeed in life? Do you want to conquer your obstacles? Do you want to achieve your dreams? If you’re hearing this, I’d venture to say the answer is yes. However, before you can declare yourself a victor, you have to actually get started. In fact, one of the biggest obstacles to success in life is to put off getting started on what you really want. Don’t do that any longer. Take Twain’s words to heart — and go for it! Jim Woods June 9, 2021. Welcome to today's #WednesdayWisdom from Way Of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods Today's insight was inspired by scientist, author, futurist, and professional speaker, David Brin. “It is said that power corrupts, but actually it’s more true that power attracts the corruptible. The sane are usually attracted by other things than power.” –David Brin The great science fiction novelist is known for producing some great reads (“The Postman,” “The Uplift War,” “Infinity’s Shore”), but here he warns us about a problem that’s anything but fiction. You see, the nature of power (and specifically political power) tends to attract a certain type of corruptible person. Just beware of that view the next time you assess a proposed government policy, or the next time you put your faith in any politician. Jim Woods June 2, 2021. Welcome to today's #WednesdayWisdom from Way Of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods Today's insight was inspired by Greek mathematician, physicist, inventor, engineer and astronomer, Archimedes. "Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world." –Archimedes The great thinker and scientist of the classical antiquity period was a man of immense talent and knowledge. Here, he gives us some wisdom about what we can accomplish if we are motivated, and if we choose the right tools. This lesson is not just for investing, but for any pursuit in life. You see, motivation, plus the proper tools, equals success. Yet one absent the other is bound to result in mediocrity, at best, and failure at worst. Jim Woods May 26, 2021. Welcome to today's #WednesdayWisdom from Way Of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods Today's insight was inspired by Irish poet and playwright, Oscar Wilde. “Experience is the name so many people give to their mistakes.” –Oscar Wilde If you’ve reached adulthood, then I don’t have to tell you that the more experienced you are, the more mistakes you’ve likely made. Of course, making the same mistakes over and over again doesn’t really equate to experience. In order to cultivate experience, you need to learn from your mistakes and not let yourself repeat the errors of the past. Beverage Humor Welcome to today's #WednesdayWisdom from Way Of The Renaissance Man Starring Jim Woods Today's insight was inspired by American journalist, cultural critic, and scholar of American English, H. L. Mencken. “24 hours in a day. 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not.” — H.L. Mencken He was one of the greatest journalists, essayists and writers ever, but H.L. Mencken also knew he had to enjoy life with the assistance of the finest libations. He further knew how to deliver a humorous line, which he does brilliantly in the quote here. I think it’s important to remember that life can get very serious sometimes, and that’s why it’s important to unplug and enjoy when you can.
