As we sip, we dive into a topic that has left us emotional: the devastating impact of the California wildfires.

Though we often use humor to keep things light, today’s conversation is filled with sadness as we discuss the losses faced by friends, families, and communities in the wake of the fires. Both of us spent 16 ½ years in Los Angeles, a place we consider home, and the heartbreak of watching the destruction from afar is overwhelming. The fires have left countless individuals and families without homes, jobs, and memories, and we can’t help but think of the animals—pets trapped in homes and wildlife affected by the flames.

We also express our deep gratitude for the firefighters who have risked so much to save lives, homes, and beloved pets. Crews from all over, including Canada, are stepping in, but the battle is far from over, and the air quality remains hazardous. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone still evacuated and in danger.
