Jeanette Cheah is co-founder and CEO of Hacker Exchange (HEX), a tertiary-accredited organisation connecting the next generation of startup founders to Silicon Valley, Tel Aviv, Singapore and beyond. Through HEX and her other projects, Jeanette is dedicated to helping young leaders grow as global citizens – developing entrepreneurship and innovation skills, and bridging the gap between academic curriculum and the realities of the rapidly evolving workplace.

Jeanette also leads tech diversity programs and female founder events and has previously been listed as a woman of influence in Smart Company and represented Australia at the G20 Young Entrepreneurs Alliance in Argentina. In 2019, she received the ‘Women In Tech - Global Ally’ Award in Portugal for her work driving diversity into tech, and was a Finalist in the Telstra Business Women's Awards for ‘Public Sector & Academia’.

A few points in the chit-chat:

  1. Developing the Hacker Exchange
  2. What to do when your business is focussed on international travel and engagement during COVID-19 times
  3. Bringing consistency and a whole-heartedness to working life with all of yourself
  4. Corporate environments and seperate personas at work
  5. Creating powerful alumni networks for a network of misfits and creatives
  6. An educational path and the progression towards various definitions of being an ‘expert’
  7. Creating people feel welcome in a shared experience via events and activations
  8. Local vs Global mindset differences
  9. The opportunities for Melbourne and Australia in the future
