In Episode 3, Jared Silverstein introduces us to Puzzle Pieces Squared, a non profit that helps provide Autism support & awareness. His organization’s goal is to help provide Autism support for one local family at a time, helping to find the missing piece to give back to families through financial resources and make them whole again.

In the winter months of 2021, a fundraiser was started among the members of Philadelphia Fire department for the family of Brian Dolan, a proud member of Ladder 29 who died tragically while off duty on May 10, 2018. He was survived by his wife, Laura, and their children Brian, Gywn, and Danny. The children also suffered another tragedy when they lost their mother less then 3 years later on February 10th, 2021. Brian Jr. recently finished his distinguished service with the United States Air Force. He was not only tasked with navigating the challenges of losing both of his parents, but was also thrust into the role of taking care of his youngest brother, Danny, who is diagnosed with Autism.

Brian Jr wouldn’t be alone in this journey. With just days left before the recording of this episode, Jared and his team welcomed the Dolans into the P2 family without hesitation. To date, Puzzle Pieces Squared has provided grants for over 20 families & 5 Tri state area school districts.
Jared doesn’t believe in the word quit, and never backed down from his dream of starting a non-profit when everyone told him it couldn’t be done. He sets the perfect example for families looking for someone to guide them forward. The PP2 foundation kept their operations rolling throughout the pandemic, and continued showing up for the families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Stephen McNally, and the current members of Ladder 29, were instrumental in getting this family the help they need and keeping Brian Sr’s legacy alive. Their actions are proof that the long honored traditions of the Local 22 brotherhood are still present.
