Hour 1 Willie Colon is sitting in with Jerry today and Jerry keeps the positivity theme of the week going by talking about the Mets win to start the show. Pete Alonso got things going with a home run that tied him with Mike Piazza on the Mets career list. Sean Manaea was terrific again and Jerry says Manaea has been the stopper for a few weeks now. The Mets have an uphill climb to catch the Braves. The Yankees had a bad night in the field in D.C. Aaron Judge looked human. Willie says enjoy the show and worry about Juan Soto’s free agency later. Willie thinks the Yankees are going all the way. Willie says there’s no limit to what the Yankees should give Soto if he delivers a ring this season. CLo is in with his first update of the day and Willie does not remember him from when CLo covered the Jets. Willie had a great relationship with the media when he played. The Mets had a big night in the desert but didn’t gain ground on the Braves. Jerry doesn’t take the AL Central teams seriously. The Yankees struggled against Patrick Corbin. In the final segment of the hour, a caller suggests the Yankees can’t pay Soto more than Judge but Jerry and Willie disagree. Then, Jerry has a bone to pick with some WFAN colleagues, including someone sitting in his chair today. Hour 2 With Haason Reddick still holding out, Jerry asks Willie for the player’s perspective on holdouts and how quickly a player can be ready once he does report. Jerry plays a clip from CeeDee Lamb about his negotiations and wonders how much agents tell their clients when talking to teams about a deal. Willie says a player could definitely be in the dark because of what his agent decides to tell him. CLo returns for an update and begins with Pete Alonso’s solo home run. Pete talked about how much he loves the Mets and his teammates. Is he goofy, is he desperate to stay or is he just saying the right things as coached by Scott Boras? It was a rough night in the field for the Yankees. Willie doesn’t think the videos of Haason Reddick working out will help him at all. Jerry thinks if players who missed time in camp perform early then others could question the importance of camp. Willie says it’s more about lasting through the season than being ready for week 1. Wille doesn’t think Jerry Jones is afraid to start over. In the final segment of the hour, Jerry plays “What Would Willie Do?” Willie teaches us that many big men don’t know how to fight because if they were big growing up nobody challenged them and they never had to learn. Hour 3 Willie, like Jerry, has high expectations for the Jets but wants to see them start hot. Willie has a few questions he still wants to see Aaron Rodgers and company answer. CLo returns for an update but first we talk about golf plans and how quickly Jerry can get through 18. Brandon Nimmo had high praise for Sean Manaea. Willie says winning is the best deodorant which is similar to a line we mocked Boomer for saying recently. The line between pro athlete and NARP just got sharper. Willie Colon saw a completely different version of Todd Bowles behind closed doors and Jerry wonders if Bowles wouldn’t have been fired by the Jets if he showed a little more of that publicly. Evan and Morash had Scott Hanson on yesterday. He delivered big news that RedZone viewers won’t have to suffer through another late window with only two games on a Sunday afternoon. In the final segment of the hour, Jerry learns that McDonald’s is about to release a McChicken Big Mac. Jerry and Willie discuss favorite burger and chicken fast food chains. Hour 4 We finish up the fast food and White Castle talk then get back to the Mets, who need to keep winning to make the postseason in an NL Wild Card race that’s been tougher than expected. Steve Beuerlein calls into the show. The former QB is now the lead analyst for the Cowboys on Compass Media Networks. He talks to us about the Cowboys and the NFC East. CLo returns for an update but first tries to give kudos to Pat Boy ...
