Manage episode 279194755 series 2787575
No one is better equipped to provide background on Brooke USA than its founding chairman, Dr. David Jones. Although a new organization, activated in 2016, Brooke USA has inherited its rich heritage from its sister organization Brooke, the leading international organization focused on alleviating the suffering of working horses, donkeys and mules in the developing world. Joining the chat is long-time volunteer and donor Cathy Moss-Dattel who accompanied Dr. Jones and other Brooke USA supporters on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to visit Brooke USA’s funded work in India. The second half includes Leslie Munsell, president and founder of Beauty for Real, Brooke USA’s partner in the development of a line of lip balms, created for Brooke USA’s equestrian ambassadors. The nonprofit receives a portion from the sale of each lip balm; to purchase visit: beautyforreal.com. Joining Leslie is Brooke USA Ambassador and Olympian Kasey Perry-Glass who worked hand-in-hand with Leslie to develop a lip balm color that would best fit her personality.

The mission of Brooke USA is to significantly improve the welfare of working horses, donkeys and mules and the people they serve throughout Asia, Africa, the Middle East, the Americas and the Caribbean by raising funds and responsibly directing them to the areas of greatest need. Brooke USA accomplishes this through a holistic approach to funding which includes capacity building, sustainability programming, female empowerment and international advocacy. Brooke USA connects private philanthropists with their passion for helping relieve the suffering of working equines and their owners. Brooke USA raises funds to support a wide variety of programs for working horses, donkeys and mules to help them become (and remain) healthy and happy, now and in the long-term, which also benefits the poor families who depend on those animals to help them earn a living.
