The long-awaited Super Mario Bros. movie is finally here! Join us as we review the 2023 computer-animated adventure film based on Nintendo's beloved video game franchise. Produced by Illumination, Universal Pictures, and Nintendo, and directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, the film features an all-star ensemble voice cast, including Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, Seth Rogen, and Fred Armisen. In this origin story, we see the Italian-American plumbers, Mario and Luigi, transported to an alternate world where they get involved in a battle between the Mushroom Kingdom and the Koopas. While the film stays faithful to the source material, our review will analyze whether it prioritizes fan service over plot and character development. We'll discuss the pros and cons of the film, including its animation, musical score, and celebrity voice cast. Does Chris Pratt make a convincing Mario? Is the story engaging enough?
