"Dreading the Christmas Season" (Luke 10:38-42; Psalm 46:10) December 08, 2024 [Christmas Banquet Message]
Manage episode 455527483 series 3497757
In this Christmas Banquet sermon, P. Sam walks us through Luke 10:38-42 - the story of Mary and Martha. Though not a traditional Christmas text, P. Sam wanted to explore the themes of slowing down during this Christmas season.
December can be a frantically insane-paced month. It can be wonderful, or it can exasperate what is already a difficult season. Taking the time to slow down is key to us not "dreading" this Christmas season with all the lights, and festivities, it can ironically feel dreadful.
But it shouldn't be.
Why is this season important for God's people and for the world? How do we enter into it with a new-found wonder again?
Join us as we explore Mary and Martha's postures of how to follow Jesus. He is the one we worship this Christmas season and every season. Join us in this sermon as we understand the Kingdom value of slowing down and the significant part it plays in countering what often feels like 'dread.'
