Episode 36: Jyl Wheaton owner of Hempbest on Cannabis Conversations with KC
Manage episode 315806932 series 3243095
Cannabis Conversations unearthed just a little of the history behind Jyl Wheaton and we will definitely dig deeper getting all the dirt when we have her back on DTRShow somewhere down the road.
Jyl Wheaton is a member of the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho, a wife, a mom, and an anthropologist/archaeologist turned hemp farmer. She and her husband own Hempbest, a hemp farm and CBD company in Oregon, specializing in growing hemp flowers for smoking and producing CBD oil, and follow regenerative farming practices. She has been a licensed hemp farmer since 2018, and is one of the first licensed Native woman hemp growers in the US. Prior to becoming a hemp farmer, she and her husband were medical marijuana patients and growers for almost a decade, and guerilla growers in the mountains of Idaho before then. She has been into cannabis culture since first smoking weed at college in Alaska, and is interested in cannabis as an entry point into larger discussions about culture and counterculture, power relations, decolonization, and more. Her website is hemp-best.com, and she can be found on Instagram at @realsmokahontas.
