Eucharist source and summit (Catechism of Catholic Church)

1. The Eucharist – Source and Summit of Ecclesial Life[1]

1324 The Eucharist is “the source and summit of the Christian life.”¹³⁴ “The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch.”¹³⁵

1325 “The Eucharist is the efficacious sign and sublime cause of that communion in the divine life and that unity of the People of God by which the Church is kept in being. It is the culmination both of God’s action sanctifying the world in Christ and of the worship men offer to Christ and through him to the Father in the Holy Spirit.”¹³⁶

1326 Finally, by the Eucharistic celebration we already unite ourselves with the heavenly liturgy and anticipate eternal life, when God will be all in all.¹³⁷

1327 In brief, the Eucharist is the sum and summary of our faith: “Our way of thinking is attuned to the Eucharist, and the Eucharist in turn confirms our way of thinking.”¹³⁸

We now have the fundamental ethos of what a Catholic home. These beliefs inform the practices and tenor of the home. The rules and behaviors need the back stop of right belief to have right practice.

Lex orandi, lex credendi, lex vivendi (Latin: “the law of what is prayed [is] what is believed [is] the law of what is lived“)

VII. Certain behaviors are encouraged, others forbidden. Just as in public worship. All behaviors, actions, speech have an echo of the source and summit of the Christian life

How pray, what believe, to the end of living well. Younger generation hungry for authentic liturgical life. Body of knowledge and put into practice correctly, i.e. lawyers, judges, politicians. If they don’t fraud, knowledge presumed correct practice.

First principles, Church Fathers, Judaism, Meagher, Fortescue, refreshed helps keep our wits. Catholic home leaven, salt, light.

Grave injustice have a body of knowledge of how to use. JC People perish lack of knowledge. Know something is easy, to do it is hard.

Requires constant effort, constant strengthen of the will. Given a pattern to follow.

Peter gives what is given to him, get up and walk.

Ex/ Ember Days. Easy way to bring the liturgy to the home. Never taught.
