The Mousetrap (formerly Mickey’s Mouse Trap) centers around Alex, a young woman working a late shift at an amusement arcade on her 21st birthday. Her friends surprise her with a birthday celebration, but things take a deadly turn when a masked killer dressed as Mickey Mouse begins stalking them inside the arcade. Trapped and terrified, Alex and her friends must fight to survive the sadistic killer’s game, which includes brutal slashing and supernatural elements like teleportation.
The film's original title (Mickey's Mouse Trap) was altered after legal concerns surrounding Disney’s ownership of the Mickey Mouse character. The killer wears a rubber Mickey Mouse mask, adding a disturbing juxtaposition between childhood innocence and horror. The film is a typical micro-budget B-movie production, featuring minimal plot and a focus on gory kills. Despite the limitations, Jamie Bailey’s direction includes vibrant lighting and some technical effort. The movie also pokes fun at its own absurdity, featuring a tongue-in-cheek "Star Wars" style intro to acknowledge Disney's non-involvement.
