We’ve long known that the fossil fuel industry, and front groups like the Western States Petroleum Association, has created a system of denial and disinformation to prevent the public from knowing the full extent of the damage they’ve inflicted on the climate. But new revelations show that their knowledge goes back to the 1950s. Now, as the city of Los Angeles is burning, and a president who calls climate change a “hoax” is about to re-enter office, these revelations are more important than ever. In the first of a series of episodes that we are calling “Climate in the Age of Trump,” we talk with researcher Rebecca John with the Climate Investigation Center to discuss these findings.
