Here's To You
Manage episode 426085841 series 2866059
The Bible is clear: We have all sinned and fallen short of God's glory. Because of our imperfect human nature, we will continue to make mistakes and miss the mark of perfection.
Our desire should be to strive to be better, To treat others like we would like to be
2 Corinthians 8:7
- "But as you excel in everything--in faith, in speech, in knowledge, and in all eagerness and in the love from us that is in you--make sure that you excel in this act of kindness too."
And then we must never become so carnal that we become comfortable in sin or so arrogant that we begin to make excuses for our sin.
- Romans 12:2
- "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind."
Once we have determined that mistakes, wrongdoing, and sin are part of our humanistic character, we should better understand our need for God in our lives. God knows better than anyone that we are flawed, which is why He made provisions for us to deal with the stain of sin. He is the cleanser, the sustainer, and the renewer.
First and foremost, God wants us to own up to our sin and call it what it is—don’t rename it to justify it as anything less than what it is, which is a violation of God's mandate. When we begin to rename sin with flowery words, we also discount the need to be held accountable for that sin or the need for repentance.
