Here is a wonderful opportunity to gain insight into the fantastic and hugely successful journey of Jamie Catherwood, a Vice President at O’Shaughnessy Asset Management, a quantitative long-only equity firm and leading Custom Indexing provider. Whilst also being the founder of Investor Amnesia LLC, a company dedicated to financial history content with over six-figures in revenue since its 2020 launch.

Investor Amnesia has a weekly newsletter with 15,000 subscribers, thousands of monthly web visitors, and two online history courses featuring lectures from Marc Andreessen, Jim Chanos, Niall Ferguson and more. Its success and rapid rise have led to Jamie gaining multiple appearances on BloombergTV, the Bloomberg OddLots Podcast, annual guest lectures at Yale University’s School of Management, and keynote presentations at finance conferences across America.

Jamie’s interests in finance and investing began whilst he was History student at Kings College, London. However, he didn’t any real opportunities to learn about investing outside of a few economic history courses he took. On advice from a close friend, Jamie began listening regularly to two podcasts: Invest Like the Best by Patrick O’Shaughnessy & Masters in Business by Barry Ritholtz to enhance his knowledge of finance, investing, the markets and he would research every term he did not understand.

After graduating with his BA Honours History Degree, Jamie got his first job at Arthur J. Gallagher in their Institutional Investment Consulting division. Which managed portfolios for large pension plans and other institutions, handling asset allocation, manager due diligence and selection.

Jamie’s serendipitous journey from A J Gallagher to being headhunted to join O’Shaughnessy Asset Management by Patrick and Jim O’Shaughnessy by March 2019 is a fantastic and must listen.
