In the first half of today's episode, we look at the first half of the minor prophets: after wrapping up the book of Daniel, we briefly touch on Hosea, Joel. Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, and Micah. Then in the second half, we look at next week's readings from the second half of the minor prophets: Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi. It's a lot to cover!
Two famous versions of the Dies Irae mentioned in today's episode are by Mozart and Verdi.
This video traces the tune of the Dies Irae from the 13th century to music you hear today. (Trust me, it's a more interesting video than it sounds.)
