Jon Schleuss is a data journalist who currently serves as the president of the NewsGuild-CWA, which had been supporting the now-shelved legislation and opposes the new deal.

Neil Chase is the Chief Executive Officer of the nonprofit newsroom CalMatters. He was formerly Executive Editor at The Mercury News and the East Bay Times, and is supportive of the new deal.
