Anthony Perosh is my head instructor who cornered me during my fights and awarded me my black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ).
He moved from Australia to Dallas Texas to train directly under Carlos Machado and had two stints in the UFC. He’s also a IBJJF World Champion and now coaches a roster of both MMA and BJJ students at his Sydney based gym Team Perosh, https://teamperoshmma.com.au.
We talk about his combat career including fighting Mirko "Cro Cop" on two days notice, the evolution of BJJ from gi to no-gi and the push towards leglocks, if black belts carry the same value in martial arts today, and dealing with multiple staph infections.
