Aine Tighe & Thomas McDonald - Sports Preview: Episode 216

It's Ladies Day on the show this week as we're joined by Leitrim & Kiltubrid star Aine Tighe ahead of the final round of group games in the Ladies Football Senior, Intermediate and Junior Football Championships. We'll also be chatting to Thomas McDonald, Manager of Manorhamilton Rangers ahead of their Glasshouse Hotel Cup Final tomorrow evening. First up is a look at the Ladies Football fixtures (0:41) for the weekend with a repeat of last season's senior final between Glencar/Manor and St. Joseph's on Sunday morning the top game of the weekend. We also take a run through the Leitrim GAA fixtures (2:33) at Junior A, B & C grades this weekend. Niall Morahan and Dearbhaile Beirne will be in action and we highlight their games tomorrow against Dundalk and Bohemians in their respective National League campaigns (5:25). The show's main guest Aine Tighe (7:00) of Kiltubrid, Leitrim and most recently Fremantle Dockers in the Women's AFL in Australia will tell us all about her Australian odyssey which has had some serious ups and downs. Encouraging signs in her first pre season in the sport last season saw great excitement about her prospects but an untimely injury saw her miss the entire campaign in Western Australia. She's been home in Ireland, recovering and rehabing ahead of her return to Fremantle later in the year. We also talk about the advances within the Leitrim Ladies setup this season as well as the progress of the championships within the county in recent weeks. Finally we catch up with Manorhamilton Rangers manager Thomas McDonald (33:43) ahead of their Glasshouse Cup Final against Cartron United in MacSharry Park, Sligo tomorrow evening at 7:45pm.
