The Let's Get Real Podcast: Point 6 The New Testament is Historically Reliable
Manage episode 314518615 series 3087587
With the rising skepticism in our culture and in the churches today, many Christians (pastors and lay people alike) are not able to defend the reliability of the Old and New Testaments. There is a need to revive learning in our churches on defending the faith. There is also an onslaught in the subject in verbal plenary inspiration of the Bible, where a variant is erroneously called an error on the part of the original writers.
On The Let's Get Real Podcast this week, I address these issues and a whole lot more. Did you know that there are over 5800 manuscripts in the original koine Greek; and there are thousands of ancient translations in Syriac, Coptic, and Latin. Also, let's not forget the millions of quotations from the Early Church Fathers that allow us to reconstruct the original New Testament text with up to 99% certainty. I also address the issues of the remaining 1% and encourage you to remember that any remaining uncertainty does not affect (touch) a single essential doctrine of the historical Christian faith. I also share with you, in this episode, several lines of evidence that suggests that the writers told the truth and were not simply concocting a new religion or inventing a new religious leader.
In this episode, I point out to you a resource that will assist you that you will be able to download. It is my presentation slides in PDF which expound on the subject even more. If you have any questions, please email me at roblundberg315@gmail.com.
