Today on the podcast we are discussing caregiving and addiction with David Hampton.
David is a certified addiction recovery professional but he didn’t plan for this career. His wife had a debilitating illness that shifted him into caregiving early in their marriage. Burn out set in and he spiraled into alcohol addiction. After walking through the challenges to recovery, his new career was born.
There are 2 stories being interwoven here: one for the caregiver facing challenges in providing care and one for the person navigating the receipt of care. Both are grieving losses, disconnecting from one another and trying to find a way to manage their new reality.
