Oh Hey, Gays!

Religion is one of those funny things, isn't it. I've known a lot of people who really struggle with their beliefs and their sexuality, as if the two cannot exist together. Some people think you can only have one or the other which seems kind of crazy to me. ? I'm not a religious person but I'm so interested in what religion can and does do to the mental health of gay people. Having been on the receiving end of some good old fashioned hate mail recently, it's only made me more curious about this idea that gay people are sinners when I'm pretty sure I remember Jesus only ever preached love. ????? ? I sat down with the Very Reverend Peter Catt, Dean of St John's Anglican Cathedral in Brisbane (who I share a nice personal story with and who I've always found to be a very reasonable religious man) to discuss all things religion. Does God hate the gays? What was Sodom and Gomorrah really about? Oh and of course I find time to mention that bloody plebiscite we were just forced to do.
