All it takes is a comparison of Hidalgo’s fine, for doing something that is also a Class A misdemeanor in the state’s Penal Code, to that handed down to a local pastor who ran for office in Abilene. Unethical, capricious, and disgusting. The TEC should be done away with in the Sunset process next year and reformed with a proper name such as the Office of Campaign Finance Rules.
