Manage episode 310620473 series 3064728
It's time to get one-on-one with Alex Martinez; he runs one of the D.C. metro area's top real estate teams. His team has shown explosive growth reaching $260M in 2020 and is on track to grow more. In this new episode, Alex tells his inspiring journey to real estate success that made it a Cover Story on the April issue of D.C. Metro Real Producers!
Key points covered in the episode:
✔️ Every real estate master was once a part-timer. Alex arrived in Maryland at the age of 16 and got his real estate license at 19. He was only a few years settling in adjusting to the culture and language when he decided to juggle college and a side hustle. "At first, I did not choose real estate. Real estate chose me, and it was my destiny. I'm a firm believer that God has put me on this path. I started from nothing, and I've done every job you can think of. At that time, I decided that I was going to college, and I got to figure out a way of making some money while keeping my attention on my education."
✔️ From building houses to building people. Alex's grandfather and mother worked in real estate. That wasn't something that he wanted to do because his goal was to be an architect. "I don't want anything to do with real estate. I need to get a degree I love because I have a passion for building and design. And that's what I wanted to do. Little that I know, I was gifted with something; it's not just the selling, but I can meet, relate and help many people, and it got me to do what I was called to do.”
✔️ Alex aims to "paint the town red" as there is a lot of growth to come for the brokerage of which he is the owner and regional partner. "The Agency has a tremendous presence on the West Coast, but not many people know about the Agency on the East Coast. We want to ensure that everybody gets to know about what The Agency is all about and its collaboration aspect."
✔️ Learn from Alex's most significant challenges and learnings when he started as a real estate agent. He did not have the proper guidance and the right infrastructure as a whole. "I feel like having to learn from my own mistakes and having someone to collaborate with is so crucial. Now, when I look back, and I realize that the things that I could have done differently than I have implemented just because I had to learn by my own mistakes."
✔️ The rewards of real estate are empowering others to accomplish big goals and get to where they want to be with your help and coaching through the process.
✔️ Authenticity is crucial in being of service to others. "Money comes and goes, but good people are rare to find. I just want to be true to myself, and people to remember me as the guy who was the real one. That's just what I strive for. I want to be an open letter. Anyone can read me at any time and be able to be there for others."
✔️ Alex defines success as having inner peace and learning that "money is good on your part but not in your heart." Success has that piece as being content with what you have, being grateful for what has been given to you, not looking at your neighbor and comparing yourself to others, but looking within you.
