Aimé Izilaba Moninga scoops the 2020 European Union Human Rights Defender Award in Uganda

From more than 50 nominations received, three human rights defenders in Uganda were shortlisted for the 2020 EU Human Rights Defenders Award (extracted from EU Website);
1. Aimé Izilaba Moninga, an outspoken human rights defender, breaking new ground as leader of Men of Hope, the first organization for male survivors of conflict-related sexual violence, acting both at national and international level.
2. Victo Nalule, is an active and inspirational advocate for disability rights, herself being a differently-abled women and founder of Tunaweza Initiative, an organization that is currently also involved in ensuring disabled women’s and children’s rights in the Covid-19 response.
3. Damon Wamara, a fearless and hands-on rights defender in the field of child victims of trafficking, in the country and within the region, who is leading the organization Dwelling places.
Aimé Izilaba Moninga scooped the award and we congratulate him too.
