In this bonus edition of The Pod Charles Cinecast, we see the next adventure in our two new side ventures – BRUCE WILLS US: A Pod Charles Cinecast Brucie Bonus, where we're going to be looking at some of our favourite films from Bruce Willis every once in a while on the main timeline, and SHYAMALAMANIA, where we will be charting the films of M. Night Shyamalan in special Patreon exclusives.

Like last time, because the M. Night film we're looking at this month, again, stars Bruno himself, we're going to combine these two ideas into one for a special episode that will hopeful entice more people to come support us over at patreon.com/ThePCCPodcast!

Join hosts Jonathan Foster and Fil Freitas, as they head back to Philadelphia to see about a former football player, who is the sole survivor of a train crash, and starts to realise he has never been sick, injured, and is pretty much invincible. No, it's not the 2006 Marky Mark football film, Invincible. It's the 2000 real-life superhero flick, UNBREAKABLE, starring Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson.

Following up for the massive success of Shyamalan's breakout film, The Sixth Sense, the studio wanted to market the film as another thriller. It's a shame, too, as Unbreakable is a unique look at the superhero and comic book genre in a time before it was commonplace. Unfortunately, the film struggled to get out of the shadow of its predecessor.

The film is loaded with some damn good ideas, great direction, with shots that look like they are pulled straight out of a comic book, and some memorable performances from Bruce Willis and Sam Jackson. There is also some clunky writing, bad acting, and another silly twist, with a pinch of Biblical references – all the ingredients for another M. Night classic.

"They called me Mr. Glass!"
