In this episode we begin to discuss the principles of yoga called the eight limbs. We start with the first Yama, which is the Ahimsa, non-harming. The eight limbs of yoga are a practical map of the pathway to enlightenment. Of course no two people will take the same journey, but the eight limbs gives us an easy understanding of the does and don’ts towards bliss. As said, the first of the yamas is Ahimsa, non harming. In this episode we break down what Ahimsa means and how to apply it to the modern world. We’d love to recommend some books we have read in our studies that are mentioned in this episode. The book The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali is where we first see the eight limbs of yoga.
