Legendary Manatee coach Andrew "Gug" Gugliemini joins the podcast to talk about his 30+ years in coaching. Gug talks about how he got into coaching after school and where he got started before coming home to Manatee. We discuss the importance of fun in his program, that also emphasizes toughness and hard work. Along with lessons learned from coaching over more than three decades, we also discuss the heartbreaking tragedy from March, when junior Jann Michael Feeney lost his life after being shot in the chest while hanging out in a backyard with friends. The always passionate coach then pleas for answers to questions about how to teach kids about being aware, and safe, around weapons and what we can do as leaders to help prevent these from happening. In the end, Coach Gug knows that these are kids that he and his staff and people across the state are helping to mold and wants to remind all them to take time to be a kid while they still can. This is a can't miss listen. Head out to the NWCA Convention later this month in Ponte Vedra. https://www.nwcaconvention.com/About%20Us…
Brant and Dan break down the FHSAA reclassification that came down last week. We look at some of the areas of the state that got harder, and a spot or two that might be a little easier. We also analyze some areas we think could use some improvement in the distribution of teams and as always, the plans we have that would make it all better. All of this and more on this episode of Stalling.…
We break the new rules released by the NFHS, including the three-point takedown, new near fall points, and the one point of contact.

We welcome Dan's wrestling coach Paul Bass to the podcast this episode. Over his career, 37 seasons as a coach, 32 as head coach, all at Westhampton Beach High School, Bass amassed 324 wins, making him the sixth winningest coach in Suffolk County (NY). During his time coaching, he produced 246 All-League wrestlers, eight county champions, 13 state qualifiers, and six wrestlers were All-State. Bass was named the Coach of the Year title seven times in his career, and in 2015 he was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. Coach Bass talks about what he gained from coaching the sport for almost four decades, what it still means to him today and how he and wrestlers both changed over the years. Plus, he gives us the inside scoop on how good of a wrestler Dan was in high school. In the intro we discuss the new classifications that came out earlier this month and go on a mini rant about how the state duals should be seeded. All of this and more on this week's episode.…
