There is a one-of-a-kind battle cannon on display at the Alamo. If you look down its barrel, you can see a layer of a chalky white substance. That substance is actually growing from the metal.
Today we reveal why this substance is growing on the cannon, the team of Texas experts putting their minds together to find creative ways to stop it, and the race to save the cannon for the historic record. Featuring the Alamo's Senior Researcher & Historian Kolby Lanham, Texas A&M University Conservation Research Laboratory director Dr. Chris Dostal, and Texas A&M University PhD student Kim Breyfogle.
