Everything changed for WWE in 1997. The WWF Attitude Era started to take shape, with the look and the tone of WWF Raw shifting in response to the threat caused by WCW in the Monday Night War. For Vince McMahon, it was sink or swim, as superstars like Kane were born and the likes of Bret Hart were betrayed thanks to the Montreal Screwjob. 1997 was the start of WWE once again becoming the dominant force in sports entertainment.
