In this episode, I delve into the profound impact of my time with the Aman Folk Ensemble, a pivotal chapter that shaped my musical perspective and approach. I'll share insights into the backstage jams and the variety of traditional instruments and musical styles I encountered, from Eastern European rhythms to Middle Eastern melodies.
This journey with Aman not only broadened my musical horizons but also deepened my appreciation for the power of music to connect people across cultural divides. My association with Aman's music director, Miamon Miller, eventually led to a collaboration on a piece, "Jovano Jovanke" (a Macedonian folk song), which featured in the Toronto Tabla Ensemble's latest album.
