205 | The Easy Client Attraction Strategy That Actually Works
Manage episode 256215875 series 2035009
There’s a lot of noise out there on the internet about how we can attract clients to our freelance business. Most of the advice out there is focused on posting a certain type of content on social media or creating complex automated email campaigns. The problem is that most of the time these strategies don’t work, especially if we don’t have the right audience or a large enough audience.
In this episode, we’ll talk about some actionable tips that you can follow in order to grow your own client base, and lay out the exact client attraction strategy that I use in my own business to keep my client pipeline full.
“The number one question you should be asking your potential client is, “How can I support you?” This question makes them feel like you truly care about them beyond your own bottom line.”
In this episode Avani talks about:
- Making sure you have the right audience for your business.
- Recognizing your clients as actual people with wants, dreams, and needs.
- The importance of reaching out and maintaining a relationship.
Think of everyone you’ve ever worked with: colleagues, old bosses, classmates, friends, people you met at conferences, etc. Write them all down or put them into a spreadsheet. Fill in as much information as you have, including email addresses and phone numbers.
2. Reach outUsing your list from step one, start reaching out to everyone. The most effective method for the initial outreach is either via phone call or text. Even if people don’t respond right away, they’re more likely to check their text messages or voicemails compared to emails.
3. Keep in touchOnce you’re in touch with people on your list, ask them out for coffee or lunch. Or ask them about their lives and how you can support their work. This will mean a lot to potential clients and is helpful for creating meaningful relationships before you even work together.
4. Make it a habitMake it a habit to stay in touch with the people on your list. Text them after your lunch date or wish them a happy birthday. Don’t be afraid to become their friend. Even if they don’t become a client right away, they will think of you if needs come up or if they know someone looking for a referral.
