In 2014, in the middle of her circus career, Erin Ball’s life changed completely when she became a double below the knee amputee. After a year, she began a lifelong process of undoing ableism and sanism within herself and started relearning aerial arts. In this interview, she breaks down what it means to her to be disabled and gives suggestions on how the circus industry can become more accessible.
