It's new podcast episode time, with Episode 026 of The Chronicle, the official film podcast for The Peoples Movies. Clotilde and Paul review The Color Purple musical and Illumination's Migration.

First up for review is the film version of The Color Purple Musical. It's also based of Alice Walker's book, starring Fantasia Barino as Celie, Halle Bailey as Nettie. The film follows the story and struggles of an African American woman (Barrino). Suffering life long abuse from her step father, husband and many others living in the Deep South of America. It’s also a story of the extraordinary sisterhood of three women who share one unbreakable bond and one sister trying to find her identity.

Second and final film is the animated family adventure, Migration. Coming from Illumination, the studio that gave us The Minion and Despicable Me films. It stars the voices of Kumail Nanjiani, Elizabeth Banks, Awkwafina, Keegan-Michael Key, David Mitchell, Carol Kane, The Mallard family is in a bit of rut. While dad Mack is content to keep his family safe paddling around their New England pond forever, mom Pam is eager to shake things up and show their kids the whole wide world. Pam persuades Mack to embark on a family trip, via New York City, to tropical Jamaica. As the Mallards make their way South for the winter, their well-laid plans quickly go awry.
