1. MLK Jr Marade
The Martin Luther King Jr. Marade will take place on Monday, Jan. 20 to honor civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy. You did hear correctly–this annual event is called a “Marade” because it combines a march and a parade. The purpose of the holiday is to unify and educate communities. The MLK Youth Education Committee will host a Youth Talent Show on Saturday, Jan. 18 at the Community College of Aurora. They will also host the MLK Bike Ride on Monday, Jan. 20 from 2-4 p.m.

Additionally, FACE University is hosting a virtual program called the Calm and Kind Family Program. The program will run February 3-6, from 8-9 a.m. OR 5:30-6:30 p.m. This program equips parents with tools to support their children emotionally in three key areas: mental health, self-regulation and managing emotions. Attendees will learn practical strategies to help children handle emotions healthily while regulating their own emotions to provide calmer, more effective support. Guardians will receive a certificate of completion and will be entered in a chance to win ticket giveaways at each session. This program is offered in English and Spanish. Limited spots are available.
