Too many times leaders look to figure out who to #blame. I think knowing/finding what went wrong is important, especially in development, to learn and make sure it doesn’t happen again. Not as a point of blame, but as a point of respect and growth. If you don’t give an issue the respect it deserves, it will force you to respect it in the long run. When all is said and done, if you are pushing to innovate and think outside the box (which I hope you are doing constantly in tech), you have to get comfortable with failure. That doesn’t stop at the people trying to innovate in their daily, this goes all the way to the top. As a leader, if you expect your team to innovate and push the envelope, then you need to be comfortable with failure and ready to fight for the people taking the risks. Doing cool shit always has an inherent risk, do you embrace that risk? As a leader, you are always out in front, clearing obstacles, protecting the team from needless drama and BS.
